My tip for young expediting wanabees. Don't consider expediting. Listen to your mom. Study hard, go to college, and become a professional, ie doctor, lawyer, etc.

I did that. I was fine. Then, I fell in love with an expediter....

I was a professional too. This is better. College is far from the only answer. There are 'other' kinds of professionals that do quite well. Like electricians, brick layers, tool and die makers, plumbers, carpenters etc etc. Most of those trades don't put you in debt before you even start working. Find an apprenticshp in one of the trades and they pay YOU to go to school. Sounds smarter than having 50 or 60,000 in the hole before you even start.

Marty being professional sucks. Studying sucks.

Mortuary Science. Right there. There will always be a need for undertakers and your clientele can't talk back to you.

Studying DOES suck...I couldn't be dragged back to college. Not even by an undertaker.

I went to college myself but fell in love with driving. I have been driving for a living since 1969. To me studying doesn't suck. I love to study history, humanities, science, and other fields. I do it at my pace, at my pleasure and at my cost. I don't do it for monetary gains or employment. I do it to gain knowledge. Knowledge is power and knowledge can increase joy.
Expediting is my passion but its tough driving for a living so I wouldn't recommend it to anyone unless its a matter of love.

I could post pictures of me with my oxygen bottle I carry around all of the time. And the oxygen concentrator that filters the room air to create 97% pure oxygen for me to breathe day and night.
Also, the oxygen line that runs to my CPAP that feeds me oxygen thru the night, at 3 LPM, so that my blood saturation levels will stay high. Nine out of ten people that have Emphysema were/are smokers. Your choice.

I do love reading, I do love researching. As you said: at my own pace, on my own time, not with the proverbial gun to my head.

I love writing, I still help nieces and nephews with college paper edits. I don't talk it good, but when I have to, I can write the English language very well.

I just don't want to go back to dorm life, trudging across campus in the dead of winter to an organic chemistry class I have to take as a requisite for my major, and stay up til 2am doing all my coursework only to have to be back up at 6am for my 7am calculus class.

That I DON'T miss.
