I went to college myself but fell in love with driving. I have been driving for a living since 1969. To me studying doesn't suck. I love to study history, humanities, science, and other fields. I do it at my pace, at my pleasure and at my cost. I don't do it for monetary gains or employment. I do it to gain knowledge. Knowledge is power and knowledge can increase joy.
Expediting is my passion but its tough driving for a living so I wouldn't recommend it to anyone unless its a matter of love.
I do love reading, I do love researching. As you said: at my own pace, on my own time, not with the proverbial gun to my head.
I love writing, I still help nieces and nephews with college paper edits. I don't talk it good, but when I have to, I can write the English language very well.
I just don't want to go back to dorm life, trudging across campus in the dead of winter to an organic chemistry class I have to take as a requisite for my major, and stay up til 2am doing all my coursework only to have to be back up at 6am for my 7am calculus class.
That I DON'T miss.
