Actually too many small cities that should be almalgamated. Long time ago my city of Stoney creek got absorbed into the city of Hamilton as did about 5 other towns surrounding Hamilton a lot less duplication every town had a police dept, public works, fire services and so forth no more of that .... The city of Toronto was dealt the same way many little towns got Absorbed..., 100' of less politicians
School boards were combined and central supply hence better prices from suppliers for supply's . Too mAny benefits to print. Detroit could be a super city council with reps from each district.... 1 central fire and police services instead of 20 different forces... Total waste of money

If your a wealthier suburb being a suburb to Detroit it would be a losing deal. Your tax dollars would be eaten up helping care for the city while your town slowly dropped in appeal. Keep tax dollars at home.

That was the exact thing about Hamilton.... It was dying of old age... Derelict buildings aging infrastructure .... And the surrounding taxpayers wanted nothing to do with it.... But state/ provincial ruled out.... And ya know it all worked out....
2 reps from each town sit on what they call a super council/ board

Think of the waste.... 30 different police/fire and school boards!
Not to mention many less politicians feeding at the trough.
No reason Romulus Taylor wood haven Trenton can't be one city

Actually, the idea was floated a bazillion years ago when Detroit was a happening place by several of the small surrounding communities. Detroit was the one that said no.

Thing is the orders came from the top and they had no choice... Kinda like an executive order....many little towns disappeared during his tenure....

What is more confusing is Rhode Island. Its it a state, no its a county
