Curious to know how you stay educated while on the road?

We subscribe to a few truck related publications and also read different web sites devoted to our industry.

But I have now went one step further,
I have just ordered a course called CABS - Course of Advanced Business Standards and I wondered if anyone else has taken this? The course is only related to the trucking industry and is also set up for the driver. Every chapter has a CD and also a written manual. It is awesome as you can listen while going down the road or while on layover you can read the chapter. Each chapter has a quiz at the end that you send it and is also a good check and balance for you to make sure you have understood everything you have read. I am hoping this will deepen our understanding of our business and also to further educate us on tips to save money with our truck.

You are assigned an sponsor for any questions you might have and this person can be contacted by email or by phone. I am sure looking forward to this educational experience!

I have the CABS course in our truck. It is a very good program for drivers who want to learn more about running their business as a business. It also takes a fair amount of time and effort to complete. For drivers and owner-operators who are committed to self improvement and better business practices, it is a worthy course.

I got my copy of the manual and CDs from American Truck Business Services: http://attrucktax.com

A guy named Kevin Rutherford XM 171 midnights M-F S & S 4-7 PM

READ books of intrest or just good stories. All business and no fun makes Joe a boring guy. Also makes him UNLUCKY... hint hint....

But DO READ AND NEVER STOP LEARNING, a sure time of Altizim is when you no longer want or care to educate yourself.

WHY?????? Did I not have this care in High School. Darn Youth, I knew it all A?

I heard of something once called In Cab University, but I couldn't find anything specfic on it a minute ago. I did find some info about 500 drivers being enrolled in the program, and how they could earn all the way up to a bacholers degree in the truck. Sounds interesting. It would be something worth looking into especially for the ones who, like me, don't really have anything to fall back on. Heck if I would have taken advantage of something like that I could have had all my general education requirements out of the way when I had to leave trucking. You know it's like they say hind sight is 20/20.

Online education offered by acredited universities is increasingly common. A little searching will provide a number of options. I do not recall the details but a few months ago, one of the trucking magazines did a piece about a college in Tennessee that offers courses specifically designed to meet trucker scheduling needs.
