You can't even get a mob of drivers to agree on the cost of a cup of coffee. How in the world do you think you can get them to agree on IMPORTANT matters?

The cost of a cup of coffee it the most important matter there is! IMHO! :D

Yeah I would have to agree about the coffee being highly important and about drivers agreeing about the price of a cup.

If not under dispatch, you can log off duty driving for up to 30 minutes.

Hope that clarifies.

Your best bet, hire a vet! Please.

My understanding is that the limit on personal conveyance is a number the carrier decides on, not any rule stated by the FMCSA. The carriers set an amount that seems reasonable without setting themselves up for liability. Please correct me if I'm wrong... :)

Interesting did anyone else have anything on the carriers being responsible for setting these time limits. I have to wonder if drivers would have any input into setting these limits.

You also bring up the problem of carriers being worried about their liability/law suits.

Still don't care for the idea of some one telling me when I can use my property for personal conveyance .

Again there is no infringement, you don't like the rules, don't drive.

The Supreme Court upheld the right of the government to regulate interstate commerce.

This means that if we drive state to state, we fall under their rules. IF the state decided to follow the fed's rules, then that means there are no other choices we have other than legal action which will lead right back to the Supreme Court rulings which is a moot point.

If you want to point out where in the bill of rights it says that there is a right to work, then I would concede my point but the foundation of your argument is made worthless by the fact that there have been cases that the right of the feds to regulate interstate commerce over the right of the individual on key and important levels.

THIS also means that the rights of the individual and state are not always over the rights of the union when it comes to key issues that make the entire constitution work. The founding fathers knew this issue all to well when they wrote that the feds are the regulators of interstate commerce.

IF you want this changed, then either fight for it by putting yourself into the position to create a court case
to bring it to the supreme court OR go and talk to the messiah and the entire congress to write a law to change it.

By the way, think about this - what's the difference between a log you fill out and an EOBR?

ONE, they cost us MORE money with NO return on that expense. That is NEVER a good business plan.

TWO, they don't work all that well.

Realistically now, outside of costing you more money (which is not an issue for me because I don't work for FedEx) and because they don't work well with your truck, is there any real difference?

You are absolutely correct about putting my money where my mouth is!
Don't have any use for logbooks either.

EBORs still require human input.
