Eating on the Cheap

We all know there is some of us struggling out there with no gas money or food.

So go to a Pilot or Speedway where they have them SuperDogs at 2 for $2.00....
These dogs are kinda big and 2 is almost too much....
Take a knife in with ya and proceed to cut 1 dog down the middle and split it between the 2 buns...viola...Put the extra dog in the wrapper that the bun came out of and save for next meal....most cashiers will sell ya 2 buns for about .50 OR buy a loaf of bread and there ya go...
Oh yeah grab a couple of them mustard, ketchup, relish packets on the way out for the next one...you can reheat the dog at the next store in the nuker!
You can eat for $2.50 a day IF you are really that bad off.

AND if you really have the moxey...the Deli at Walmart will let you try their sliced meats and cheeses in samples usually half slices...slip them into a baggie just add bread and bingo! Real cheap meal...

Times are tough out there and save a buck where ya can...

Have a Very Good Day.......OVM aka Ken:D

BTW If you have a Speedway rewards card..after your 6th dog you get a 1,000 bonus points which can be redeemed for yet another dog....enjoy! :)

Don't laugh...I've done ALMOST that!

When I see the dogs are getting wrinkled I call them leatherbacks..*lol* cause they get a little thick skinnned I ask the clerck for a 2 for a buck deal because she has to throw them out soon....The same in the J with the wings and corn dogs...they have certain time limits by health laws and must be thrown out but they are still good!!

You can also use any fresh road kill that you find. You do have to get permission from the Game Commission or what ever the state you find yourself in calls it, but hey, there is always a fine choice of different types of meat at the "Road Kill Cafe"!! MMMMM enjoy!!!:p

Didn't we have a "serious" discussion a while ago about Phil helping out someone who was living on $10 a day for food? He gave him $100 and so on while the guy was contracted to FedEx - FedEx of all places?

$10 a day is good living for some of us.

10 bucks a day a guy could eat like a king...

some expectations are out of whack...and needs or preceived needs

there are drivers out there with a jar of PB and a loaf of cheap bread....

if I had to revert to hot dogs I believe there would be a better place for me to work.
when I eat a hot dog its because its just a snack between meals

or hold tight and King Obama will have everyone so dependent on the government that they will feed us 3 squares a day every day.
Just think:

(1) buy a car - government
(2) buy a house - government
(3) buy health insurance - government
(4) need financial ad to go to school - government
and the list goes on and on..............

just remember the King has said if government can provide competition to the private sector it would make the private sector more competitive and responsable -------so if he thinks we all need health care, I can only guess even he knows we all need food - in there goes the government takeover of the big food warehouses and grocery chains!

WHO NEEDS DRIED UP WEINERS WHEN WE HAVE KING OBAMA! Here's a thought - leave us the hell alone and let us obtain and earn what WE WORK for!

I suspect many shippers and receivers would be very uneasy entrusting their shipments to expediters who are operating on budgets so sparse they struggle to provide lunch for themselves. Trying to operate OTR with insufficient funds is like playing Russian Roulette with the customer's freight. One mechanical breakdown or medical bill will put some on the ropes.

Perhap our industry should consider establishing standards of financial solvency for owner-operators. Wouldn't that be a hoot.

I can eat food in the Van i have cooked at home and packaged for right around 120.00....thats 21 meals, all homecooked and large enough to feed most anyone enough that you won't need seconds.....meatloaf, mash taters and gravy....mmmm good!!!

Oh and Pot Roast is often in the frig, beef, veggie, and taters....and Beef tips and Noodles too Juju!!! :D

If i get a hotdog at a TS or even a Hot Dog Joint, its strictly because i have a craving for one, which happens about once a month......
