Is it just me or have other solo d-units at E-1 had a slow 1st quarter and a very slow april? This has been the slowest month for my two trucks in over two years! Is this just bad luck and not being in the right place at the right time? Hard to believe that can happen for 3 or 4 weeks at a time. I know that a slow week or two can be expected now and than but, my loaded miles have been off by as much as 30-50% since early march. E-1 is happy to tell me that they have had their best quarter ever and that they look foward to a record year at this pace. Daily load totals are up and everything is just great!!! The few driver that I have talked to have had the same concerns about loads and rates being down and fuel prices being up! It seems that the recruiting department at E-1 also had a record 1st quarter. Hopefully the frieght will catch up with the fleet soon!

This is a response to my own post. Its only being 10 hours since I posted my first message ever on eo. I have not received any replies from any other drivers from E-1, but I did receive a phone call from E-1 stating "that they did see my post and that I am the only driver that is not getting loads" My post was not meant to be a knock on E-1, I was just stating that I have had alot slow days lately and was not getting the miles that I was used to. My relationship with E-1 has always been great! They have always been fair and honest with me, hopefully things will pick-up soon, was all I was stating. My statement about recruiting having a record quarter was not based on any inside info, It was based on the number of trucks I'm seeing and the truck #s on them.

lol now you know why you got no responses from E-1 drivers:

I have not received any replies from any other drivers from E-1, but I did receive a phone call from E-1 stating "that they did see my post and that I am the only driver that is not getting loads"

That will teach you to post on an open forum :p

Expiditers Are growing in popularity..fron drivers of tractors to retitees ,the industry is attracting more people.. Loads are down..Do the math.
all the recruiters have to do is sell the dream to truck and fleet owners all fleet owners have to do is sell the dream to drivers..
wheather there is 50 trucks to run 150 loads which was the case years ago or there are 150 trucks to run 50 loads . whick is what its turning into .only the drivers are out there to slugg it out. Loads still get ran. as long as the Tristates, and fleet owners keep there trucks filled their job is done ...Nothing wrong with that!! its business ..but KNow where you are in the big scheme of things. and be preparred to accept change or make better.

Don't worry about the phone call. Just shows how nervous they are when anyone criticizes them. Their reliance on NLM runs which they have made a thing of using to get back to their tiny freight zone means one sits & waits. If I had to wait for an NLM run, I would sell the truck, and get out!
They were right up there at first to champion the benefits of spot bidding: now some of us are suffering for the $.14/mile FSC on those auto runs.
Outside of that, there seems to be a flooding of D' units now into this business, especially with teams who know nothing about expediting, or even logging in some cases. In a shrinking auto market in the US, that is a recipe for disaster. Seems to have been a slowdown lately anyway (see P2 post): could be most needs are being covered by big trucks or LTL's.

I found out the hard way (in another business) that if you are a sub-contractor that's dependant on another company for work, to make sure that your posting profile does not disclose your specific identity.

In other words I've gotten the same phone calls....

Maybe the posters that are always beacons of sunshine and love get phone calls of another type.

Am I reading post #1 and post #2 wrong or has there been a major attitude adjustment. What was said on that phone call . Seems to be a little censorshp going on or maybe just a little enlightenment from the mothership
