During home time, how safe is your truck?

We park in the driveway where we live, at my daughter's house. When we had our own home, we lived in a manufactured home community and had to park the truck at the back of the community next to an open field. There was another truck (18 wheeler) that would also park there. We once had about 50 gallons of diesel stolen from the tanks of our truck.

I'm not pointing any fingers to the driver of that other truck, but who else would have use (and a way to transport) 50 gallons of fuel? This was in a very nice, family friendly area. It was something we never expected would happen.

It was not a choice to live at my daughters, it was a necessity because we had to let our home go because we were no longer able to afford the payments and upkeep with the slow down in freight and the downturn in the economy. It is convenient though. :)

This has nothing to do with the safety end. It's addressed to the Canoeist in the group. I have a "Old Towne" canvas canoe circa around 1925. It needs restoration, some wood work & new canvas. Some where around my humble little shanty I have the original owners manual from Old Towne. If someone has the means =$ to restore it, I would be happy to make them a present of it.
