IRT,
I don't get why you went out and bought the 48 foot box, you should have stuck with the 53 footer or got a pup.

I was in Laredo this week,Tri State bidded on 20 loads and got under bid 20 times,I loaded out of Houston.I notice while I was there FDCC was moving loads, guess they can do the cheap freight
Somebody sure is doing the cheap freight. One of my companies is known to low-ball, and even we got undercut several times yesterday.

Looks like another that bought into that WG myth. Probably should have looked at the figures before purchasing.

W/G 48 foot with pads and bars and straps actually only has 43 feet of space.IRT,I feel for you,you should have gotten your boss to forget the reefer and come over here, but to late now.I'm averaging over $5200 a week thats with their trailer. Also my expenses here are less than they were at FDCC

3 weeks ago was great, in fact one of the best the company has ever had. The last two weeks have definitely seen a drop in customer and board freight. It almost seems like it dropped off on election day and just didn't come back. We have bid on some loads planning on taking a loss and still not secure all of the loads that we were trying for by any means. DaveKC was right, Texas has been the worst I have seen it in quite a while.

Tractors have seen little change. S/T have slowed some. Vans have without a doubt got hit the hardest. Some units will get lucky at any carrier and be in good places at the right time, some will come up unlucky. It is the unpredicatable of this business.

Very frustrating for everyone including the dispatch and sales teams. When it is slower, it is more work on the dispatch end to produce less numbers and less happy owner ops.

While I have not been with my carrier all that long, the load count the last 3 weeks have been lower then what I have seen. That being said, the miles on the runs I have had and the income has been great.

I another thread I was called a "*******" because i thank dispatch for the work they did to get me out of TX and for the pay on a % wise to make up for the time I sat....

So yea while freight is down, the carrier has worked to keep me loaded as i am sure they are doing for all their O/O's...

So at the risk of being called a "*******" again, Thanks Load 1 and dispatch...the efforts are appreciated....:D

Tell me about it. The last weeks have been pretty bad and I think it's more frustrating now trying to book people than it was trying to book myself. Some of our units have done pretty well, but others have been a real struggle to book.

The funny thing, though, is that the people who have made more money in the slow weeks are the people with the shorter "I won't go there" lists.

While I am in the T/T division for my company. Mostly predispatched in advance. Time sensitive loads yet not considered Expedited.
Our Straight O/O's have been hauling A$$. Was at the yard early this morning washing my tractor and speaking to a few owners, 2 of them are heading out now to cover customers as I write, and I got an offer to run an "expedited load" from Troy, MI down to N.C that will be ready at 3pm edt. Mind you, this is a Saturday as I write.

So that is 3 loads in the Northern Detroit Suburbs just this morning for us, customer loads, not bid loads...2 straights and 1 T/T for our company. Actually, one of the Loads could go in a van/sprinter as it is only 2 skids at 1800#...but any vans are all on the road.

Vans??? :eek:You now have vans also??? As in CARGO Vans??? YOU!? lol:D....Since when??

Naw, Not me. You know I don't "own" anything!! lol Didn't know I had to be so specific! Could have used one though is what I meant on Saturday. I was thinking about the couple that I ran into up in Sterling Heights, MI. They have 2 really nice Chevy's, really sharp. Anyway, I got their card that day, and gave them a call Saturday to see if they could run the 2 skids. But those vans were outta state sitting while waiting on a load.

But it has got me to thinking about talkin' to the boss lady about seeing if those 2 CV'ers can be "swayed"....:D

BTW...sent you a PM late last night....I see you took care of it, appreciated, ;-) Just play nice in the sand box, OK?

Well, you are one, not that it's necessarily a bad thing. I won't use the same terminology as last time though...

:D and your point is?!?! And you are in good company, on a regular basis, my wife, kids and even my mom call me something "close" to the term you used...except the the word they use starts with the "A" word you mentioned ends with the word "hole".....:D

LOL, I wear it as a "badge of honor"....:D

Four loads since 11/1. (Total of 2216 miles) I would say yes...

Yes, things have slowed down. I have experienced pretty much the same. Was OOS 11/1 and back first thing on 11/2. Since then 4 loads and 3 dry runs. :(

we have seen the amount of loads that we see off of the boards down about 20-25% over the past several weeks. phones aren't ringing near as much, and drivers calling in wanting to know why it's so slow. this wave we all have been riding for the past year, since the cash for clunkers got the expedite world kicking again, is finally starting to fizzle out, looks like. it actually lasted longer that i thought it would. don't get me wrong, it's been a great ride. we have doubled our fleet size and staff to keep up, but now it's like, uh-oh.:( we're going to keep hanging in there, and we when we can't hang anymore, we'll let go and hopefully i'll get some bailout money.:D
