Driver's daily log question

My husband and I are newbie o/o. We are just picking up our truck tomorrow. We'll be driving for FedEx CC once we go to orientation. Question: We will need to drive the Class D straight truck to our home and then to Ohio for orientation. Do we need to keep a Driver's Daily Log for the trip even though we aren't "officially working" yet? ih

I would log as going to Ohio probaly would be looked at as a commercial operation.

If the wheels are turning the logbook is recording. I'd rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it. I believe it's required anyway but I'd do it regardless. You can't be wrong that way.

Thanks for the info. We have logged our trip home and I am learning about the log book. Lots of new stuff to learn but we are having a ball as we learn. ih

Your gona feel exhausted when you leave, mental exhaustion. Your about to get a Associates Degree in two days. Take notes on your questions and ask here or another expierenced driver.

What slows the learning process are all of the questions, and some of the Drivers Who Know It All and need the rest of the class to know that they Know It All. You will know who I mean after an hour in the class...
