drivers co-sharing land / homesteading

Hi

I was wondering if any drivers on here co-share land / housing with other drivers?

My husband and I are thinking of trying to purchase some property. Some of the larger tracks are cheaper per acre.
We want to try homesteading, but with being on the road it would be difficult.
So we were thinking it might be possible if a few drivers co-shared. Property could be affordable that way and with shared labor construction and food production would be possible.

Anybody have any ideals?

Actually if you look around intentional communities are becoming popular.

Besides as a H/W team it would be nice to know our empty house is being watched out for.

And it would make having animals so much easier. And cheaper than paying a kennel / sitter if my dog needs to stay home.

We aren't interested in sharing with any other drivers. But we moved our adult son and his fiance into our home. They maintain the house. Pay a third of the house payment, pay all the utiities, take care of our elderly dog. This helps them have a nice home that they would not be able to afford on their own and allows us to be on the road and not have to pur our dog down, or worry about the up keep of our house. We did allow them to remove our decor and put theirs up since we aren't there full time, they are. We maintained our personal master bedroom and bath. They have their bedroom and my younger son's bedroom when he away at school. But when the younger one comes home he gets his bedroom back. Basically they use the younger son's bedroom for storage (in the closet) and as a guest room. I feel this is a good deal for all of us.

He likes being here vs. being in the apartment he was in. We are on 2 acres, 2 car attached garage, 2 car detached garage with work area and man cave area, 3 bedrooms, 2.5 baths. $400. month plus utitiies and up keeping the house is a great deal for him.Especially at 21 years of age. It is a great deal for us also. things are being taken care of, we have peace of mind knowing everything is ok at home.

We feel we are fortunate to have this arrangement.

That is what we have done. Our daughter takes care of our house and mail. She is on our bank account and pays what very few bills I cannot pay online. We do not worry about our house while we are on the road.

There has been posts before of dedicating a area for this use and I do not believe there was ever an agreement on how to make it work.

Ya properly could afford more land,but why not cut back on acreage to something you can afford yourself. I'm thinking very few have success story's when working with strangers in this manner.The good stories properly involve family like some said already.
In the transportation and construction industry this could turn into what is referred to as crash pads and usually does not turn out to be a nice place to hang your hat for more then a day or two.
I could see this happening on very lage tracts of land where everyone builds their own structure, but don't think sharing or building a house would work out well with strangers???
Not saying ya cant make it work but ya kinda asked for ideas..and thats my take on it..

Sounds like taking a lot of chances to do this with people you will not know that well. How about buying a plot of land in a vacation area. Something like many do in say Gatlinburg Tn. Buy a plot, build a cabin and then have a property manager rent it out for you when you will not be there. A lot of people either pay their entire mortgage or reduce it drastically doing this type of thing.
