Drive Shaft Balance

I have been reading about a doohicky sorta like the automatic wheel balancers for drive shafts. Do these things work? Do they cut enough vibration to reduce wear? Are they worth the money? Inquiring minds want to know.

Seen em on Aux power units before Layout,,Generators,conveyors,pumps etc etc..
they do work,they do cut down on Vib,They do reduce wear,
Never seen em in use for truck tho..Sorry cant help ya:D

You do know ya can have your driveshafts balanced dont ya?
Not sure what you where looking at,What I was refering to are kinda like a collar setup with fluid in them or bearings that smooth out the aux driveshafts.

Yep, I have had it done on one of my pick-up trucks. I was looking at things like the Centramatic doohickeys.

One company that has drive shaft balancers is Balance Masters. If you feel the need to re balance your drive shaft you would money ahead to pull your drive shaft take it to a shop and have it balanced.


Any time you add weight to a something that is spinning it take more energy to turn it which means less fuel mileage and more wear.
