Per, US Supreme Court, searching a vehicle without probable cause is illegal. Just because you get stopped doesn't mean police have a right to search or even call in a canine unit. Court said they have to issue the ticket or release you in short order.

As long as they are the law, it's better to let them do the search and let you go, than asking for a warrant and getting a real hard time from the blue boys...

Yep there are laws and then there are rules. Sometimes its better to follow the rule even if it isn't law

If I'm in my personal vehicle a police officer IS NOT searching. They have to have a warrant and unless they do its off limits.
