I would be willing to bet that our Supreme Court will uphold this. The SAME Supreme Court that says it is just Okee Dokee, to interfere with a military funeral.

I would also be willing to bet that there will not be much public support for a veterans freedom of religion. I don't see large numbers of people showing up keep out the government officials and pray with the family in defiance.

Let them try and stop me. I DARE them too.

I understand wanting to separate the state and religion but people should have the right to use God at their funeral, it's largely a private affair and if someone can't respect a deceased soldiers wishes, then he shouldn't attend.

This is coming from a non religious person. It's just stpid. Everyone involved is stupid and have their common sense reinstalled.

I think that people forgotten more than this, what decorum and respect is all about.

WHILE this may offend many here, it is offensive to see a big uproar about this and nothing said by those who allegedly claim to fight for my freedoms over Arlington and the entire Veteran's cemetery mess but incensed over this trivial issue - yes trivial.

The more important thing is respecting people who died, not to have their bodies misplaced, not have them buried in the wrong graves or just stuck in a room with no identification. THIS is respecting them as fellow citizens and vets. While God may understand that the funeral rite is screwed up by those who don't care, he also sees how we respect our dead and don't care about the respect they are due long after the funeral rite is done and forgotten.

You got that 100% wrong, they upheld freedom of speech, a very important right. IF they went the other way, it would have opened the door for more than just this issue, it would have gone so far as to restrict everything that we take for granted.

NO, I am NOT wrong. I know very well that they up held PART of the First Amendment. I just don't believe that they will up hold the rest.

We show more disrespect for our dead vets by sending "Uncle Teddy" to join men and women of honor.

Yes you are.

Rest of what?

NO one stops them from practicing any religion, as no one stops them from using the word God. NO one has yet figured out a way to take God out of our lives but it is those who want to complain about the little things while ignoring the bigger things that misplaces the resources that result in these issues not being solved.

I feel and so do others that Arlington and the mess within the system needs to be fixed, it is very important that we respect the dead but saying a pray is so far removed from that and yet no one has stopped anyone from praying or practicing their religion.

As for "Uncle Teddy" who gives a crap, that isn't the issue. Having to go to a grave that you thought your brother, father, grandfather or uncle is in and find out he isn't, that's important.

Maybe the solution is this, no more government cemeteries for vets. How about that?

NO more government control, hence no more issue of God or anything. That seems fair, right?
