dolly leg maintenance

My dolly legs are showing a light surface rust and are becoming an excellent workout device by steadily becoming more difficult to crank. What is the prescribed maintenance program for them? What type lubricant should they have and where should it be applied and where should it not contact? Thanks.

Should have grease fittings, call the mfg if you do not find them. I read a post here a few months back warning about greasing these in the winter make sure you use them a couple times in warm climate before heading into the North. Grease becomes hard and its impossible to lower them and once you do accomplish that its even harder to raise them.

I have the same problem with the paint, very poor paint used. I will before next winter take this in or do it myself grind all metal down, prime and than paint with a brush this time. Also touch up anyother frame or black metal along with the rear bumper.

They should have small lube fittings on the gear mechanism covers. Don't put too much grease in as in cold weather the grease congeals and they are a real workout to get up or down. Also once in a while while the legs are down give them a real good coating of WD 40 or similar stuff.

It is also important to have equal shoulder build up, I crank mine down with my right arm and up with my left.LOL
