Dogs and Fedex

actually pets allowed, just NOT in freight areas...that goes for Phizer as well....so some one is wrong on the info...

Who is wrong?

Pfizer, Merke, and all the other Pharma companies have a STRICT no animals allowed policy on their property. IT is not just the freight areas, it is not just the cafeteria, it even includes vehicles entering the property - it is the entire site. The only exception is aid animals, like for seizures and for the blind and then you have to have a pre-approval to even do that.

I thought about this last night and I think if you want to make those big FedEx bucks, stop thinking it is an elite country club.

As for hijacking, a lot of the losses were preventable, a few were downright stupid - leaving the truck running while you go in the T/S to eat?

:p I just find this entire thread amazing. The rules be the rules. You KNOW the rules before you start. Don't like them? Don't start. You sign the contract, follow it. No reason to whine or complain about it. Hate it that much? Leave. Simple. End of story.

I could not agree with you more.

If you do not have an APU and you have a pet in the truck you have to leave the truck running when you go into the truck stop to eat.

Anti idle laws and pets don't mix. You can be fined for idling and you can be fined for leaving an animal in an enclosed vehicle if it is too hot outside.

some states have exemption laws for pets and medical conditions....and some have ambient temp exemptions...

I wasn't actually talking about pets but if you think so ... :)

If someone wants to hijack a truck little fido ain't gonna stop them The best defense is paying attention to what is going on around you. A properly guarded truck is even LESS likely to get stolen.
Someone said the FBI crime stats on cargo security say a truck guarded by even a little pooch is 50 times less likely to be stolen, so apparently it does make a difference.

50 times? That is a bunch of times. Lemme see here, pied times, no wait is it minus? Or, plus? Anyway. I have a dog with me usually that don't shed, don't need water, no walk'in, but, barks over here, and bites wayyyy over there.

Phfizer could not have been one of the companies to prohibit pets, because we have been to several of their plants with ours and never had a problem.

Also, nothing in the notes about no pets on their properties.

Only thing I can say about this post is " ITS A FEDEX CUSTOM CRITICAL RULE THAT NO PETS ARE TO BE IN WHITE GLOVE TRUCKS". It don't matter what company does or doesn't want pets in the truck, it's a White Glove rule. If you don't like the rule don't be in White Glove. As many people want to be in White Glove why would someone risk the chance of having a pet anyway? Carl Kieser ran White Glove and is a great guy to work with so why all the fuss over a darn pet when you know you can't have them in the truck in the 1st place. Terry checking to see if people have pets in the truck is a good thing. I see nothing wrong with it.

I have no idea of what it's like to work for Fed Ex. Although personaly I would not work for someone who hires people to see if I'm breaking Company rules. Safety rules are one thing. Patroling truck stops for someones pooch is a lttle over the top for me. What if Fed Ex say's no whizzing on your rear tires in the far corner of a Truck Stop. Will they send someone out in a Van to keep a eye on their trucks for violaters?

Every company I have work for hires people to check on there trucks.

I think that a 12GA on the end of the offenders nose is a FAR more effective means of stopping a hi jack. WAY better than a pooch. Of course, we ain't allowed that either.

Other then Random Drug tests, why work for a Company who doesn't trust you?. What if your at a Fuel island in the middle of a Expedited run and the Pooch patrol sees your dog. Do you park your rig and unload onto the parking lot for someone else to finish for you?. Will someone from Fed Ex come up and strip their name off your uniform?. A couple of children with snare drums follow you out of the lot in disgrace.
