I have just bought 3 units 2007 170wb sprinters and i have 2 of them in the shop already with injectors out on the number 3. I asked them how long before they can fix them (5 days) hope you sprinter owners have better luck then i do. i only have 22,000 miles on them. next time i will buy used ones.

Thanks for the heads up.

I've always heard the old saw that one ought to avoid buying a new model vehicle in the first year after it's introduction ....... so they have a chance to discover and work out the bugs. Given the new engines in the '07's I'd say that they qualify.

We've been looking at purchasing another Sprinter for the wife to lease on where I'm at. So far the only thing I've considered have been the remaining 2006 models ..... when and if ya find them ...... haven't even scoped out or test drove an '07 yet.

I've driven one of the new 2007 models. There's a lot of really neat bells and whistles. One model has a bench-type front seat for three people, with the bulkhead and cargo area immediately behind. Great for some uses, but probably not the best seating for expediting, not if you want to live in it, too. They have a driver's seat that has electronic adjustments, and the steering wheels telescopes and tilts. Wow. The unsightly and ungainly dash hump that you keep kicking when you get out of the seat of now gone, and is flush with the rest of the dash. I do like that.

Mu local dealer wanted to work out something in a trade for my 2005, but that new 2007 engine still gives me pause. It took them until the 2005 model to really get most of the major bugs out of that design, and the new designs are just too many and too different to want to go and jump into one too quickly, IMHO.

well I just found out today it will be another 2 days before i get them back because the sprinter tech that works on them took 2 days of work for some reason so it looks like it is getting harder and harder to find people to work on them. my dealership i bought mine from only has 2 sprinter tech's so if one quits it is really going to be tough just to get it in for anything boy I might jump ship and sell them and buy 6 new chevy or GMC cargo vans for what 3 of these cost me.

You will find that the major problem for repairs on the Sprinter is the availability of a tech to work on them. Most shops that I have gone to (easily over a dozen), have only one or two techs and 4 or 5 Sprinters in front of you. I broke down in Miami on a Friday and they could not get to it til Wednesday. We drove to West Palm and they took us in right away and had us out in 2 hours. I also have lost #3 and had it repaired.

I found another company in my are that also has Sprinters and asked them who they use for service. Turned out they were using an independant shop that could do most of the repairs. They are much cheaper than the dealer and had never had to go back with the same problem. My advice, ask around.

Yep. Ask around. Find out who does the work for the FedEx and UPS Sprinters. Often you can just ask one of those drivers and they'll know. Near where I live the UPS Sprinters are all serviced by a local independent shop. Check with not only the Freightliner dealers, but the Mercedes dealers, as well. Most any Mercedes tech can work on a Sprinter. Whether they actually will or not, depends on their own workload, but all of them have access to the same tools, diagnostics, parts and manuals of the Sprinter, and a lot of Sprinter repairs are the same exact repairs that they do on a daily basis to Mercedes vehicles.
