Cargo Van Dodge ProMaster

Chrysler offered me a warranty that kicks in after factory that covers $100 in roadside, tows. $35 1 day car rental. Trip interruption blah blah. She didn't have the term lengths available. It's basically a go F yourself package. So u can guess what my reply will be when she calls back. They can put up cash $ or much much better. She called when I was outside chrysler HQ, told her where I was and the phone was really quiet. I think the point I made of sticking van up their ceo's *** really sunk in. They might as well escalate my complaint because I just go up the chain of command and or start knocking on doors.

Driving gently means about 62 MPH on the freeway, unless traffic is heavy and we are holding too many people up. We drive like there are egg a taped to the pedals... no hard braking or accelerating.

I found couple emails w/ 1 being the CEO and another head honcho. Emailed both last night and 0630 this morning a senior manager of the ram brand replied that he's calling me this morning at 0900. I hv someone's ear now so this is the time to kill em w/ kindness which is what my email was all about.

Holy crap. Chrysler vp called, they had a team of guys for my call to hear me for 45 minutes. They wanted hear my *****ing on service and issues of van. The vp gave me his personal cell # and said to deal w/ him for now on. He's hooking me up w/ 1 of their specialists to go over this van and fix the hinges etc. They blew me away w/ having a team there. He said no problem paying me for loss of revenue. They went above and beyond. They are contacting the dealer to work on their customer service. I gave them suggestions to make the wood floor standard option, they loved the feedback.

Just received email from the chryslers OPS mgr, they are also paying me 1 months van payment which I was unaware of. These guys really stepped up. To many people stand down when they should stand up and fight. For $31K paid I'm not standing down and the results are worth the headaches.

Thanks for the reply, I drive between 65 an 70 most of the time. With most of my loads I can get 5 to six hour sleep per night

Dodge just emailed saying, "we are doing some customer studies, on the vehicle side, and you provided great input.

Do you mind if I have a marketing firm reach out to you to get some testimonial on the vehicle"?

Any other promaster owners have neg/pos feedback they'd like to provide please msg me on here.

Looking for an update on how the ProMasters are holding up for those O/O's that have purchased them. Are you happy with it, how does it do with load in the Mountains (Appalachians), Mileage, complaints, etc.

Thanks

So far so good. We have logged 11000 miles without any real problems except the brakes squeal like a NY City Metro Bus. Almost everyone on the Dodge Forum site have the same issues. Mileage is fair. We switched over to Mobil 1 on the first oil change and our mileage jumped 1mpg. If I drive at 65mph it gets 18. If I kick it up to the low to mid 70's it drops to 17. I built out the interior and added a microwave, refer, TV, cabinets, wood floor with e-track on floor and walls, and dual battery alternative power system. So can haul about 3300#'s. Time will tell.

Tell them that the automatic transmission is programed stupidly. At the very least, when it's in manual mode, IT SHOULD NOT STILL SHIFT AUTOMATICALLY!!! What good is the manual mode if the darn thing just continues to shift as it wants to automatically???

Tell them whether in automatic or manual mode, the transmission shifts WAY TOO MUCH! The slightest little rise in the road causes a downshift... which means every mile or so. Regardless of what their experts claim, a transmission that shifts as often as this one does will never last.

Tell them to AT LEAST GIVE US A FULLY MANUAL MANUAL MODE so we can control the stupid thing!!!

I know nothing about transaxles. Could it be that the final drive ratio is geared too high for the vehicle and the transmission? Does Chrysler offer options on final gear ratios or is there only one? What is your final drive ratio? What works for a tradesman or city P&D operation isn't necessarily optimum for expediting where most of our miles are at highway speed.

I'm having a similar problem trying to find a GM chassis with a 3.73 gear ratio. I may have to wait and order a 2015 to get it. In the next few days I will start a separate thread seeking advice on this.

There is only one final drive ratio, although I do not know what it is. There is no option. However the drive ratio is fine. It is the fact that there are 6 speeds and they're so close together while the transmission logic allows it to shift willy-nilly at the slightest increase in elevation. If the manual mode was truly manual, we could force it to remain in 6th on overpasses, for example. The real stupid feature is it stubbornly indicates "6" on the display whiles it's shifting all over the place in manual mode. DUH!!! It should indicate what gear it's really in all the time!

It was a rhetorical question in answer to the quote I lifted from Westmicher where I changed the spelling of one word. Kind of a play on words or a pun on wheels.

Do what fifaref2 did and get on Chrysler's case. You won't get a different axle ratio or a different transmission, but at the very least Chrysler should fix the manual override and be able to reprogram the shift points.

A problem we as expediters have is these vans are built for a certain target market. We ain't that market. The major market is tradespeople and city P&D. Higher MPG at lower speed, stop and go city traffic. Not OTR expedite where low rpms at higher speeds are a concern. Eventually Chrysler will probably offer different gear ratios for the transaxle. After all this is a newly designed vehicle but heavily based on the European Ducato. Hopefully the new Ford Transit will have some options geared towards us expediters. Pun intended.
