Depending on who you work for, you have to fill out the DOD Secret Clearance Information Sheet, and then fax it to who ever is your DOD agent, at the company you work for. They in turn will process the information, and add it to the government's JPAS system. Once you have been added to the JPAS system you can begin completing your application by going to the e-QIP websie: www.opm/e-qip. You will need to go on line to fill out the application. Best to print off a copy, fill it out manually, then do it on line. Be prepared to do a lot of paper work. There are about 29 pages, along with two copies of fingerprints.
Hope this helps.
Of course there isn't, WG people are special but maybe FedEx should start doing this... if they cared. I know of a bunch of FedEx contractors who have financial problems and one WG team may have a serious gambling problem....
Today I spent 30 minutes on the phone with one agency who I hope to work with and the nice lady on the other end said that there may be a change for all these carriers very soon where they will require the sf278 orsf714 form to be submitted along with the clearance application. I know FedEx hauls for this agency, and so does others but she mentioned that there will be no exceptions made, once the policy is finalized, there will be no real grace period.
If you are doing DOD loads, then you will be questioned about finances. That is a government requirement, not a carrier requirement. If the carrier doesn't request it, then you aren't doing DOD loads. Maybe just doing low security clearance stuff that only requires US citizenship. One isn't the same as the other.
Its been two years since we filled out our forms, the only question I recall about
financials was " have you filed bankruptcy in xxx amount of years". I dont remember
if it was 7 or 10 years they wanted.
The Feds are looking for things that you might try to hide and be open to blackmail or selling freight to cover hiden bills. Most questions for security clearances are asked from a counter-intelligence postition. If you lie you can be blackmailed etc. Being straight up will most likely not affect your getting a clearence. You are right about on thing Greg, ALL clearences should be re-done every few years. When I worked for DOD we had to be re-cleared every 5 years. Layoutshooter
