Hi All
I have been searching on this site for quite some time and was looking for a driver position but it seems like every expedited company or the o/o's that are looking for a driver are in OH./MI./IN. not any in the Philadelphia PA.area??? What would be my best bet to get a driving job in this field I have experience driving regional had my class A with all endorsements since 1999 but only been driving B class trucks since then? Would like to get my own truck and sign up with someone But the money is not there and would like to try this filed for about a year so I have a feel for what im getting into when buying my own truck. Any one with any help thanks in advance.

Hey PG,
I understand your situation, but you sum it up quite well. The majority of the fleet owners ARE in the MI, IN, and OH areas. My suggestion to you is to look in your local yellow pages for a courier or cartage type company. They are usually located around airports.
Working for a company like this may give you a basic "feel" for what we do before committing to a major truck purchase.
Best wishes in your search - Scott

I'm looking into buying 2 trucks from an owner that lives in N.C.Their leased on with All-State Express. He says he has a driver in both trucks, but that's debatable. If the deal goes down,I would much rather have a driver from Philly than N.C. If your REALLY interested,e-mail me back and we'll take it from there. Oh yea, I live in Wilmington,De.

In my personal situation, I live in Lansing, MI area, and am an owner operator for a mid sized company out of Charlotte, NC.

Nowadays, it is not necessary to be able to get back to a home terminal for anything.

Although, I know that Express 1 (Buchanan, MI) supposedly has a drivers room, or building, with all kinds of good little benefits for their drivers, including being able to plug in to electricity, while on the premises. Now that is a fringe benefit that I would like to get to the terminal for! Go to their website, they have the run down on the goods for their drivers.

So since I'm in Arizona, there is very little chance of expediting employment. Hummmm. Seems like a shame not to mine such a HUGE market. L.A. and Phoenix, which are two of the largest cities in the country are out this way.
