Disgusting

Terrible start to a really nice day. We where sitting at the Flying J in Laredo Tx very near the building. A big truck backed in next to us in the evening with an older, heavy set, white haired and what I thought was a gentleman parked next to us. In the morning I was drinking my coffee and of course reading EO when the "gentleman" opened his door. He was on his speaker phone and did not have a shirt on. That was not a pretty sight and I wondered what in the world he was doing. He was talking to the phone and looked up an saw me sitting there. He then moved towards the back of the truck. I thought nothing of that and then looked in the mirrors. Bad move on my part as I saw the "nasty old man naked wiping his behind and talking on the phone. What a nasty sight and I know we where probably only 5 trucks from the Flying J. He then came back to his truck and got back in still talking on the phone. I just have to ask why?

Why? You know why, Linder - because some people are just disgusting pigs! Like Leo pointed out, it doesn't have to do with color, gender, occupation, political affiliation, sexual preference, geographical upbringing, or parenting, either - there are just BAD people out there.
I hope you called the cops, or complained to the truckstop mgr, reporting the plate number of the pig's truck. Pigs continue to behave that way because they get away with it. Even if complaining does nothing but make you feel better, it's worth it, but maybe it will have the desired effect on the pig: attention from the authorities. A cellphone camera is worth it's weight in platinum at a time like that!

YUCK! YUCK! I am so sorry you saw something like that. Truly there are some sorry people out there. Can you imagine what the inside of his truck looks like!? Linda, try to get the picture out of your mind. Think of Spring and beautiful sights we will see on the road ahead. It's over! Try not to dwell on it. These people are all around us and we can't change them. But be careful where you step! india

Once again, this is why I don't own a gun. Sorry Leo, but if I pay good money for something, I want to use it. And use it often!

That's just plain nasty. And what makes me even madder, is the fact that it was a big guy. Any one who's met me knows I'm a big guy, but I'm sure as heck not lazy enough to dump outside the truck instead of walk my butt inside. Stuff like that just perpetuates the stereo type of the fat dirty slob trucker.

Ahem, and I'm SURE he washed his hands somewhere in his truck.....

Idiots...have a little pride in yourself for crying out loud.. and knowing a lady was watching.. what's wrong with people.

Last weekend I had a similar experience at the Pilot in Ormond Beach, FL. I was sitting in the passenger seat playing on the computer and drinking coffee when I hear the truck door next to me open. Of course I looked up from the computer just in time to see the man urinating in the parking lot.....while still sitting in his seat. He just turned around in his seat, opened the door and let fly! I just don't get it!!

Ok, here's my idea: everyone needs to get a cellphone with camera, and practice the quickdraw snapping of photos - we can cause these pigs to think twice before they risk getting caught on camera, with prints to their carrier.
We can be a force for good in the world - think of it!:7
PS It's probably best to take photos from inside your truck, with doors locked...

You know I will admit I thought of just blowing the horn. I will admit I was in shock and just turned away. I think in retrospect I should have reacted harsher but I really believe and still believe nothing would have been done. The thing is though I didn't find out that so next time I will try a different tact

Brian and I were sitting at a rest area in Mississippi last fall. An 18-wheeler pulled up with an older male truck driver. He got out of the truck, took a gallon milk jug, and poured it on the pavement right behind the back wheels of the tractor. The milk must have been sour because it was yellow. He put the container back in his truck and walked up to the restrooms. When he came back out to get into this truck, I looked at him and scowled and shook my head. He hung his head and made a quick exit. No words were exchanged, but he knew he was disgusting.

So....they know they are "Filthy Pigs" they just don't care. I love Cheri's idea of the camera phone. Even if you do nothing with the picture, they know you have the option. Getting the company's name in the picture is perfect. There is not a company out there that would want a photo of one of their trucks associated with a "Filthy Pig" floating around the internet. Let's Get Em!!!!

It amazes me that people behave the way they do. Since starting in this business I have quickly come to see the need for more truck parking(didn't take a rocket scientist to figure that one out). It would take someone the size of Wal-Mart to pull this off but can you imagine the business a chain of truck stops would do if it had plenty of parking, bigger spaces, clean grounds, walking trail, 24 hour security, clean facilities and a management team that really cared if you reported something like you saw? My dream truck stop would require membership and any violation that revolting would mean immediate ejection and a permanent ban at all locations. I have thought about this alot (mainly while lamenting about the fact I couldn't find anywhere to park or trying to walk my dog amongst the trash in a lot). There is so much more that could be offered and I really think people would respond and want to park and support such a place. I know I would. Oh yeah, in my fantasy I name it simply Paradise.

I would like to apologize to all the ladies on behalf of all the decent men out here for the behavior of these swine.

The dumping of untreated waste is a crime in some areas and so is exposing yourself in public. They could have been reported to the cops.

I too am sorry you's had to see such a pig! On behalf of all decent males
out there I too apologize for this pig in male clothing.x(

Lanier, that's a great idea: a members-only truckstop! If you ever put together a consortium to make it happen, count me in. There were too many nights when I'd driven my 11 hrs in a t/t, pulled into a rest area, and had to block the exit lane, just to run in & use the facilities. Sometimes, if there wasn't anyone waiting for me to move when I returned to the truck, I'd just sit there & cry. I knew I was over legal driving time, and exhausted, and should NOT drive any further, being a danger to myself and others, not to mention breaking federal law on HOS. I would be blamed if I got caught, or fell asleep at the wheel & rolled the truck, or God forbid, caused an injury to someone else, but I didn't have any choice, had to move out & keep rolling. Sometimes I'd think about taking a stand, so to speak, right then & there: refuse to move the truck. But what would that accomplish? A backup of trucks stuck behind me, until I was arrested and my truck towed out of the way. Not doing much to improve the image of women driving t/t, either!
What Lanier imagines really would be Paradise...

What a great idea! A membership only truck stop boy we would be right there and we would be willing to pay rather well for this service! Now I am dreaming of Paradise!!

And for some of you this is not the Paradise by the Dash Board lights!!

I am currently a subscriber of the Paradise Truckers Parking lot. It is called the Wally World truck stop, camp ground, and parking lot. A lot of Paradise locations have 24 hour security and most of them have VERY NOISY 3:00 AM lot vacuuming services. I drive a van, and I sleep almost exclusively in Wal Mart lots. Only been run out of one. Charlotte NC. Security said I couldn't park overnite, but also said that I could park in the Home Depot lot next door. BTW, I am impressed with the guy who can open up the door, sit in the Captain's seat and whizz out the door. I would only accomplish getting my pants and drivers seat wet. I don't condone his gross actions, but impressed nevertheless.

I am a member of that camp ground as well. The only problem is no showers and the chance of getting run off. That has only happened to me once too and it was in Louisville. The other problem is the big trucks that are showing up at them and not being as courteous and clean as is required at Paradise. I am afraid they will eventually ruin it for us.

It's not just a truckstop or parking place problem - I lived for nearly 20 yrs in a house near a stop sign, on a street that was a "main drag" in the suburb, and picking up beer cans & fast food trash from the lawn was part of every weekend. Now I see the same trash around the apt complex, because there are trashy people wherever you go. Sigh.

On a side note from Cheri's post...not as disgusting as the original post...

I never understood why guys would clean out their trash on the parking lot... then walk into the truck stop, passing 2 or 3 trash barrels on the way.....

Of course, there are those who just leave the wrappers, cups and bags from 2 weeks worth of fast food on their dash.. LOL.

The real classy ones tho, have that roll of toiler paper stuck in the corner of the windshield!

Our previous home was in town, located on a hill, with steps up the driveway. We were also about a half-pint away from the "Elbow Room". When the people were about in front of our house, the jug was empty, and what a better place to smash the empty than on our drive. It was a thrill to constantly clean up broken glass out of our drive. These were very classy people.

I know... There is no rhyme or reason to why people do the things they do. I live on 65 acres with the same families for neighbors for the last 70 years. Not one problem the entire time until recently a 2 acre tract was sold. The new residents saw fit to clear cut 150 years of growth off their 2 acres... and in the process go over the line and cut about 15 big oaks off of my property... and in even further wisdom move two pit bulldogs into a pen built just on my property. Needless to say it will be moved and I could seek legal action for the trees but what will that really accomplish? The trees are gone and thats final. I have to live with these people so I've decided if they move the dogs out permanently I'll let it go. It just made me sick to my stomach though. What really got to me is they couldn't understand why I was so upset over "a few trees"...
