Disgusting woman!

I truly hope that they find the "woman", and I use the term VERY loosely, is that just DUMPED her new born baby girl on the beach and prosecute her to the ninth degree. This "person" is one sorry excuse of a human being. At the VERY LEAST it should be made sure that this can NEVER happen again. Life without parole in a deep, dark hole would be a VERY good start.

There is just NO EXCUSE for this. NONE. It is as disgusting as disgusting gets. All she had to do was turn in the baby if she did not want it. Instead, she left it alone, to die.

The ONLY way this "person" could be let off the hook is IF it turns out that she died and was washed out to sea.

[h=1]Woman finds newborn left on sand at Hawaii beach

HONOLULU (AP) — A baby girl was abandoned and found crying in the sand at a
Hawaii beach soon after she was born, human services officials said Monday.[/h]
The full-term, 8-pound newborn was "abandoned immediately after birth," state Department of Human Services Director Patricia McManaman said.

A woman parked at Sandy Beach in east Honolulu sometime between 11 p.m. Sunday and midnight heard several people screaming, police spokeswoman Michelle Yu said. A few minutes later the screaming stopped and the woman heard a baby crying.

She walked toward the ocean and saw an infant on the sand. The woman took the baby to a hospital. Police are investigating the case as endangering the welfare of a minor and child abandonment.

The baby, who had been found naked, was doing well and drinking formula at the Queen's Medical Center, McManaman said. "We're just very grateful this child is alive and doing well," she said.

If no one comes forward to claim the child, the Department of Human Services will file a petition this week with family court, asking for custody. A hearing will be held by Monday. If no family is identified, the state will ask the court for permission to release a photo of the infant on Monday, McManaman said.

In 2007, Hawaii became the 48th state with a baby safe haven law, said state Rep. John Mizuno. The law provides immunity from prosecution for leaving an unharmed newborn within 72 hours of birth at a fire department, police station or hospital or with emergency services.

No one has taken advantage of the law since it was enacted, McManaman said. The baby safe haven hotline is 800-494-3991.

Can't argue with you on this one. A sorry excuse for a human indeed.

Someone will defend her decision though. Probably with "At least she didn't sell it for crack".

Now, now. She just exercised her women's reproductive rights, her pro choice rights. What's the problem?

You know, I really hate to put a damper on one (of many) of your near-continuous hate-filled screeds ... particularly since I know that you are smart enough to actually understand this ... but is it not the case that there might be another possible (if not likely) explanation that this (apparent) abandonment might be something other than what it appears to be at first blush ?

Would all your comments above hold true if it were the case that the "mother" involved was of seriously diminished mental capacity ?

What about if the mother was a 9 or 10 year-old adolescent ... who had been raped by her father ... or her priest ?

Point is, you are engaging in speech which has about all the quality of mindless projectile vomit and exercising judgement based on a lot of assumption ... clearly without having all the relevant facts ...

It's certainly your right to do so ... even if the wisdom of doing is sorely lacking ...

It's times like these that makes me glad that you drive a truck for a living ... and are not involved in some other career where a serious lack of critical thinking skills might have far more serious ramifications ...

Your wait is over.
A false premise based on a flawed and inaccurate observation and logical fallacy ...

There were no excuses offered - just merely an observation that the OP was pontificating on a matter for which all the relevant facts were, or are, not known ... and a couple of accompanying questions which were posed to inquire of the OP that if it ultimately it turns out, in fact, to be the case that the scenario is actually different than what he is positing (based on no actual evidence as far as I know) would it modify his opinion or position ?

But leave it to you to be utterly unable to recognize something for what it actually is ...

Unfortunately there are many other women trying to get rid of their unwanted newborn babies in the same way. At least this baby was found in time.

The woman who found the newborn baby on the beach is actually the baby's mother. She gave birth on the beach, and then took the baby to the hospital under the Safe Haven law, except she said she found the baby instead of saying that she's the one who had it. The end result is the same, immunity from prosecution for leaving an unharmed newborn within 72 hours of birth at a fire department, police station or hospital or with emergency services. She has been charged with filing a false police report, and paid $250 bail and was released. Police don't expect to pursue additional offenses at this time against this disgusting sorry excuse for a human being, despite her not having died and been washed out to sea.

Relevant facts can be a real booger, huh!

Especially to the ... (wait for it) ... fact-averse ...

BTW - all too funny if actually true ... simply because one could perhaps say that the "finder"/"mother" acted in a far more conscientious and responsible manner than some inclined to comment here ...

I am glad it turned out she was not a scuz. Too bad she had to lie. Just tell the truth in the first place and they would have not had to try to find her. She should have to pay any costs related to the police having to look.

Sure could have been far worse than what it turned out to be.

Too bad she had to lie. Just tell the truth in the first place and they would have not had to try to find her.
Yup ... I don't know what caused her to lie about it in the first place ... but that lie could literally end up being the mistake of a lifetime.

She is now or will be (and probably unfortunately) in a non-consensual, unwilling relationship with the State, which may end up dictating much in her, and her child's, life.

Can you imagine having done something like this ... and then eventually coming to your senses and wanting to actually be responsible and a good mother and raise your child ... but being barred from doing so for the remainder of your child's non-adult life ?

She should have to pay any costs related to the police having to look.
Seems like a reasonable and just position, on it's face.

She could have brought the baby here, been raising 4 grandsons since 2004, whats one more here. I got lots of experience in diapers, child care, doctors visits, courtroom visits, bottle washing, clothes buying, carpooling, breakfast cooking, and Im 67 years young, bring it onnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn, we don't leave babies on the beach here, just saying, old fashion I guess.... forgot something, their Mom is here now, things are easier...

We have ALL kinds of things in place to avoid just leaving a child to die.

We have CHEAP birth control, not to mention the ONLY 100%, sure fire method of not getting pregnant, not doing it.

It is a shame that adoption is such an over looked option. There are all kinds of people leaving the US to adopt. Partly because of outrageous costs and regulations here and partly because of a lack of infants to adopt. Since this woman carried this child to term a pre-arranged adoption would have been a wonderful solution to her problem and the child would have a family that wanted it.

I have no problem with her possibly facing criminal charges. She took a course of action, there are consequences for every action each of us takes. Part of being an adult, and partaking in adult actions, is having to accept those consequences. It is a part of life.

No, I can't even imagine doing what she did since that type of action is not in my nature and never has been. I have always accepted my responsibilities and the consequences of my actions. It is how I was raised and what I believe.

IF, I had found my self in a position where I was responsible for a child I could not provide for I would put it up for adoption, right from the start since I am opposed to abortion.

She also had ZERO reason to tell the lie since that law was in place to allow for people to do the more responsible thing and turn the child in for placement rather than letting it die.

I pray that, as time passes, that she learns a few life lessons from this and in the end comes out a better, more responsible person, for the experience.
