Ever gone to any place featured on DDD?
I've been to several. I watch the show and then take note of the places in towns here I go. I also have a Custom Triple-D POI on the Garmin. They have an app, but it turns out it's a resource hog, running all the time, using the GPS and other things to run down the battery, so I deleted it.
My favorite so far is in San Antonio, The Cove, which is a sandwich and taco place, and also a laundromat and car wash. They have live music most nights. Their Blue Bison burger is to kill or die for. So is the shrimp taco.
In Lexington I've been to every place that's been on DDD. The Parkette Drive-In is one that I've been going to since I was a kid whenever I've been in Lexington. It's both a diner and a drive-in, but it's not a dive. It's from the 1950s. The original owners closed it up a few years ago but a couple of transplants reopened it and kept every recipe the same, and restored everything to its original look and feel. Hand battered fried chicken that's half of what KFC costs, and it's twice as good as KFC. Burgers and fries, and dogs. The poor boy is awesome. It's a $10 sandwich for like $5. They're on the New Circle Rd. Can't miss them. The sign is yooooge.
JJ McBrewster's American Smokehouse is a BBQ that does genuine West KY BBQ. I know that because the owners are people I know from the town I was born in. It's some tasty stuff. Smoked 14 hours and scratch sauces.
Wallace Station Deli and Bakery is a sandwich place in Versailles, just south of Midway. It's Exit 65 off I-65 just west of I-75. It's maybe 3 miles south of I-64.
I've probably been to 30 or so places that's been on DDD.
