Doubt if color has anything to do with it.

Detroit is STILL a one party city. BOTH candidates were Democrats and therefor subject to the exact same Democratic corruption. The only real difference between them is Duggins has some private sector business experience, which could help, but ONLY if he can get around the established power mongers in the city, which is a long shot at best.

The BEST solution for Detroit is to level it and start over.

Agree Layout. Both are cut from the same cloth politically. Not much difference between the two and both were connected to the former regime. Duggan was even an advisor to Kwame to the very end before his conviction. Only plus is he doesn't have much power right now because of E.M

Detroit's only hope is that Duggan can make the corruption function. One cannot expect "change" if one keeps electing the same person year and and year out. Decade in, decade out. Those who live in Detroit must like it the way it is or they would not continue to do it.

Nothing can save Detroit. LOS is right, level it and start over.

I heard an idea they're tossing around involves leveling some city blocks and leaving others standing. The ones that get leveled would be farmed.

I dunno man, smoking that stuff is legal in Colorado but not in Michigan last I heard. (except for medicinal purposes)

Detroit would elect someone that's purple if he could save the city.

No they won't. They will ONLY elect those who are a member of the "club" , which has happened again and has been happening for more than 50 years. The ONLY difference is that Duggan has lighter skin. Other than that, he is no different than what they have has since the '60's.

Detroit is likely beyond saving. It is not a result of not spending enough money to fix things. It is a result of dumping money into a cesspool that does not want fixed. The majority of the people who live in Detroit, like it the way it is, or they would have put a stop to it a LONG time ago.

Need proof? Detroit has been a one party city, Democrat, since 1962. It's politics are controlled by that one party and the city unions. That has not changed this time, nor is it likely to the next time they elect a mayor.
