Denis Webber has moved

For those that may not know, Denis Webber is no longer working at Carrier in Ft Wayne. He has moved over to Thermo King in New Haven down the street from Stoops and Vomac.

I know many expediters have relied on Denis and his expertise in refer, APU and A/C work for years. I pass this info along so that anyone that needs to get in touch with him will know where to find him. It's hard to find a reliable mechanic and to lose track of one you have found is even worse.

Yeah, he must have felt like the Maytag Repairman at Carrier.

Good Luck to him in his new situation.
Maybe he'll figure out how to get the TK's to pass the T-Val testing.

Are you trying to say that Carrier units don't break down? COME ON! There is NO unit out here that runs that flawlessly. Even the best maintained unit regardless of make goes without the need of a good mechanic, Carrier INCLUDED.

Good Luck to him in his new situation.

OH you mean like he did while at Carrier? Thats FUNNY right there! Maybe you should give up expediting and begin your comedy carreer.

I have had THREE brand spanking new Carrier units ALL installed and set up by Denis and EVERY one of them failed T-Val on their first time through for one reason or another (none of those reasons included operator error btw). From everything I have heard the TK units are NO different in that they can be just as quirky as Carrier. Neither one is an exact science, being a realist I have to admit that TK has done well flatening out the learning curve since jumping in to expediting refer work. Carrier has been in it for well over 12 years straight and still have their fair share of units fail.
Now that Denis is at TK I'm sure that it will only help them flatten the curve even more.

For the record I didn't start this thread to begin a Carrier vs Thermo King debate. I started it to inform people that may not have known where he went or how to find him.

You know the old saying: better to remain quiet and be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt. ;)

I didn't want to rekindle the debate either.

Since the last go around I've only spoke to one driver that has been to T-Val testing.

A new TK that failed.

The Maytag Repairman was meant to be funny..

It was.

Anything mechanical will fail.

Thanks for starting the thread. I personally spoke to Dennis,at TK 3 weeks ago.

To me the funny thing is that it's been like an industrial secret for weeks.

At your age it may be time to lighten up a bit. Life's too short.

A friend had a PM and Nist Test done at Carrier, Frt Wayne last week.

All appears to be well there also.

If I can't get to Frt Wayne, I've found Iceberg Enterprises, Denver area and the Carrier Dealer a little SW of Ontario, Ca to be excellent choices.

I can see Dennis stocking Carrier filters and belts.

I couldn't say which is better? But I am tickled pink that I don't have any more.
Better suited for a tractor trailer where you can leave the junk one and back under one that is working.

How many TVAL service facilities are there now compared to three years ago? I belive the number has declined. Why might that be?

Whew! Just in the nick of time. Last I heard I'll be taking delivery mid-June, but more news should be forthcoming this Thursday.

It's unfortunate so much depends on one individual. I hope to alleviate some of that demand by becoming certified to service those units - at the same time I'm finishing my last year of medical school.

I plan on becoming filthy rich as an opthamologist so I'm able to pay cash for a fleet of DR units and live happily ever after, without a care in the world.

Last I heard they had 2.

50% of those guys are getting ready to retire.

I'm considering moving my new unit there to replace that portion of their "fleet".

The discussions here have helped prove to me there MUST be greener grass beyond one of the fences. For some reason I feel I should be disgruntled.

Maybe I'm just irritable because I miss folk music and hootenannys so much...

Does Landstar still have a TVAL?

Ours was the first truck to mapped for Landstar TVAL work. Two more trucks followed shortly after that. There are more now but I have not kept track of how many. TVAL loads have been hauled and a growing number of agents have come on board and become qualified for TVAL work.

Landstar is committed to this service offering and more growth can be expected. If you have a TVAL truck and are looking for a Plan B, it would be wise to make contact with Landstar now to begin the conversation. It is not as easy to get into Landstar as it is other carriers. Learn about the process so if you decide to make the jump, you'll be ready.

How many have you hauled ? Are they at T-Val rates ?
I am nowhere close to needing a plan B but like to stay abreast of industry current events.

We have hauled none and I have no info about rates. The freight came out of areas we were not close to at the time. There might have been some TVAL loads pop up for us but we have had long periods out of service to concentrate on administrative tasks related to our new business.

About the fleet, this TVAL truck could remain in the Landstar TVAL fleet if a Landstar BCO buys it. It's all set up for TVAL.

So they have no age limit on T-Val units.
That could be a selling point to many.

The answer to that question is best obtained directly from Landstar Express America recruiting. See their ad on EO or call: (855) 578-7226. Be sure to say you are calling about Landstar Express America so you will be connected to the correct people.

We just had our Thermo King unit worked on at Thermo King New Haven, Indiana. We were welcomed very nicely by the service writer. She was very good at communicating with us and directed us to Dennis Webber. After reading about Dennis here I had high hopes.

Dennis is very nice and gave me all his attention as I described what was needed. Dennis had the unit adjusted and under test quickly. We were continually informed as to what was going on and his plans for a complete resolution.
Dennis introduced me to Don Reinhart and I very much enjoyed hearing about upcoming items that they are working on with FedEx TVAL. Thermo King is very active in this relationship and look forward to the changes coming.
As I have read in other threads this is NOT a Carrier/Thermo King spitting match. please, just my comment as to our experience working with Dennis.
We have found this location will be our go to place anytime we want our Thermo King reefer looked at.
