So, is this supposed to be the cracked Veteran with a gun story? The press has been salivating at the opurtunity to have a vet with a gun even shoot at not to mention take a life. Yeah Im sure they were hoping for the John Rambo like hollywood would brainwash you to belive to come out by now so they will settle for somone protecting themselves. And of corse, it was an A.R.15.

Perhaps the many many veterans I'm acquainted with are an aberration but I can guarantee you they handle weapons safely, accurately and professionally.

As do most the legal gun owners I know.

Same here. And to a person they will tell you that discharging a gun on the grounds of an apartment complex, even discharging at the ground itself, isn't safe or professional. It's stupid.

That's because you have misplaced loyalties and no measurable sense of humor.

My son is a misplaced loyalty? The 55 KNOWN others who were drugged are a misplace loyalty? Compared to YOUR sense of humor? You have GOT to be kidding.

Is it likely that OTHER vets were subjected to this? Quite likely. This is VERY personal to me, for good reason. If you can't understand that, well, I then don't even know what to say. I have seen the results of this administrations cost cutting efforts on vets.

Yupper - particularly in light of the fact that the perp was apparently in retreat mode when the shot was fired ...

Firing off a high-powered/high velocity rifle in a densely populated urban environment - an apartment complex in this case apparently - without a valid, justifiable reason - like defense against an imminent danger/threat of body harm - is the height of stupidity.

But leave it to some goober (or another ) to think it might possibly be a good idea ...

It's exactly that sort of yahoo thinking that causes people to think that some folks shouldn't have access to firearms ....

Irony: people who distrust and generally disparage the government insist that civilian veterans ought to be given special consideration regarding firearms because they [vets] were trained by the government.

Quick! PM me where these are so I can get some before they are gone. I keep missing them.

I bought them off a friend. He's up to about 1000 rounds and spared some for us. People say Old English in Vandalia, OH stocks every Tuesday and opens at 08:00. Of course they line up and sell out. I'm going to try to be there about an hour before they open this Tuesday. I've also been told they have a two box limit. Which would be fine for me. I just hate being OUT.

No, I'm not kidding. Your son nor any of those 55 have anything whatsoever to do with the story in the OP.

Is it likely that OTHER vets were subjected to this? Quite likely.
Yes, it is quite likely. But there is no indication that anyone in the OP was subjected to it. None. So why bring it up? Bring it up makes about as much sense as bring up a new layout boat or a new lasagna recipe in the middle of this conversation.

This is VERY personal to me, for good reason. If you can't understand that, well, I then don't even know what to say.
Then I guess you have nothing to say, because I can't see at all the good reason of bring up something that has nothing to do with the story.

I have seen the results of this administrations cost cutting efforts on vets.
So have I, but that doesn't mean any of those efforts played a role of any kind on the vet in this story. It's certainly a possibility, but since your son and those 55 are the rare exceptions and not the common circumstance, it's one hundred percent pure speculation on your part, done, it would seem, as a way of venting your anger and frustration in a place where such venting has no place.

As much as I disagree with the shooters decision in this case, I have come up with a valid defense.

My advice to the shooter, make the following statement:

I was merely following a directive from the Vice President of the United States who stated:

". . . If there is ever a problem, walk out on the balcony here, walk out, put that double barrel shotgun and fire two blasts outside the house . . ."
Joseph Biden, Vice President of the United States

I practiced a safer and more conservative version by only firing one shot and firing it into the ground. I ask that this case be dismissed and my rifle returned to me immediately or name the Vice President as a co-defendant.

Me too, but this isn't the thread for it. However, Brisco has been kind enough to grace the Cook's Corner with an excellent lasagna recipe.

Nor is the thread to be bringing up an active Soldiers murderous rampage during war time........but yet that post is still sitting here amongst all these other posts.

Could rarely care less what others "Opinions" are as to what he posted in that sarcastic post.....I saw what I saw and "MY" Opinion was dead on target.

So........where is my totally IRRELEVANT Lasagna Recipe I shared with everybody this morning???

So Far.......this is a clear case of Double Standards Hypocrisy that many have tired of amongst quite a few members and moderators around here.........

You can ignore what made the post relevent all you like. That still leaves your post not even close to the target.

You might also reread turtles lasagna comment I'm thinking you might have mis-read it.

Yes, that post is still there, as are the equally off-the-mark and utterly retarded posts about where to find hard to find ammo, but at least they are in the neighborhood of guns.

I agree.

It's a clear case of double standards hypocrisy only to those people who are butt-stupid morons who don't know the difference between lasagna recipes and the use of guns.

Something tells me that Barcoloungers aren't moving so well this week. If it were me, I'd probably want to reach for my ammo.

Or maybe some lasagna.
