Death by DeSantis

The issue was the “worldwide behemoth company” using their clout accumulated globally to work to repeal legislation that was signed by a Governor of a local government.

The fact that Disney police were a law unto themselves with no out side oversight should tell you how much clout they have.....and it should worry everyone.....but you call desantis a dictator.

No, I did not call DeSantis a dictator. I said he was dictatorial. There is an important difference.

And no, Disney police are not a law unto themselves. The police officers who patrol the Disney property are sworn officers, just like all other sworn officers in the state. And like all other sworn officers, they are accountable under the same law all others are.

"Law enforcement – Officers from Orange County, Osceola County and the Florida Highway Patrol are contracted to police the district. In addition, the Walt Disney Company employs about 800 security staff in their Disney Safety and Security division. While Disney security maintains a fleet of private security Chevrolet Equinoxes equipped with flashing amber and green lights, flares, traffic cones, and chalk commonly used by police officers, arrests and citations are issued by the Florida Highway Patrol along with the Orange County and Osceola County sheriffs deputies." Disney's stock has soared nearly 30% in the last few weeks. The breaking news about the FL legislature's action RE Reedy Creek is of little concern to investors or the public. Disney is a worldwide behemoth company. You could shut down the entire Orlando theme park and it would have limited effect if any effect at all outside the Orlando area (where the effect would be huge).
Disney showed declining double-digit losses the past two years, but of course is enjoying the post-covid rebound like other outdoor entertainment businesses. The new CEO has is optimistic that the Disney+ streaming channel will hopefully show a profit by 2024.
Layoffs are widespread among major companies these days. That has nothing to do with Reedy Creek but with the economy at large. Interestingly, their theme park revenue and usage is up. There has been a CEO change, probably related to the Don't Say Gay dust-up but that's all it was, a dust-up and a CEO change. Such things are common in corporate America.
The CEO change was definitely due to the Disney involvement in the fraudulent "Don't Say Gay" campaign, and it's also likely that his stance on the Woke content of their entertainment hasn't played well with the majority of Americans. However, the change at the top doesn't seem to have made much difference there. Disney has obviously staked out it's target market, and it's not the parents and children of conservative middle America.
DeSantis is scoring a lot of points with some right wing voters with his anti-Disney actions, and while that is gratifying to them, it's not as big of a story as many think. Disney was doing just fine before the controversy. It's doing fine during it. And it will do fine after.
DeSantis is scoring a lot of points with conservative and moderate voters by taking a stand against Disney's woke grooming and indoctrination in it's entertainment. A good example of this is the "Proud Family" animated production on Disney+, which boldly promotes CRT and White shaming in the most bigoted and racist manner possible. Here again is their target market: impressionable young kids and radical liberals.

"If you are not familiar with the name Latoya Raveneau, you should be. She is the woman who last year in a Disney staff meeting admitted to an agenda to groom and propagandize your children."
While DeSantis is burnishing his right-wing credentials at Disney's expense, he is also proving himself to be one of the most dictatorial, anti-free-speech governor's in the nation. His actions will help him win a primary but the same actions will be a liability in a general election.
When does "free speech" cross the line into child grooming and misinformation? Labeling the DeSantis legislation as "Don't Say Gay" was plainly misinformation, if not outright lying about the legislation. If DeSantis calls out Disney for its false representation, he can hardly be described as "anti-free-speech", and disagreeing with liberals' political agenda is hardly "dictatorial". His position is consistent with his legislation against the advancement of CRT curricula in FL schools, which was wildly popular among most voters - especially parents - in Florida and the rest of the country.

DeSantis went to the heart of darkness to begin his "law and order" tour. Of course the mayor of NYC had to post a statement on Twitter touting the "values" of his bastion of debauchery, which only served to emphasize the contrast between his failed policies and the DeSantis record of success. This looks and sounds like the start of the DeSantis presidential campaign.

It makes you wonder what drugs he is taking along with mayor lightfoot.

This is how you stand up to Fake News. Another good move by DeSantis:
Or maybe a dumb move. Picking up your ball and going home is an unwise thing to do when you want to be in the game. And do you really think NBC or MSNBC will be bothered by DeSantis not granting interviews to them? His staying away only gives them free reign to do more of the same things DeSantis is complaining about. By granting interviews, he could confront directly the very people he has complaints about. He chooses instead to avoid the studios and whimper in press releases.

Dem “leaders” do it all the time. Biden avoided a Fox News interview before the Super Bowl. It’s tradition to have an interview with the network that is carrying the broadcast.

Democrat politicians rarely, if ever appear on Fox News or Fox Business. Occasionally you might see a spokesman or strategist. An objective, unbiased news channel doesn't exist any more, and NBC is no exception. DeSantis probably realized there's no upside to making appearances on a channel that's going to ambush him with "when did you quit beating your wife?" questions. This is the "Trump treatment" and any serious conservative candidate is going get it from the mainstream media.

Both parties are weak, as the old saying goes, if you cant take the heat, get out of the kitchen. I understand why Biden didnt want to go on Fox news, he does not have the mental capacity to fight back, Desantis on the other hand, he could give it right back to the hosts at NBC, but the conservative arrogance says why waste my time.

It's not arrogance, it's pragmatism. DeSantis probably figures he's not going to gain many voters or change many of the minds that watch Andrea Mitchell and NBC. Republican candidates in general should be very selective with mainstream media programs and hosts they choose to interact with.

No if anything they would enjoy watching desantis getting grilled.
Who says DeSantis has to get grilled? Is he powerless? Is he inept on TV? Is he less intelligent than Andrea Mitchell? Is he not as good on his feet as she is?
Where does it say, or who says, DeSantis can't do an interview with Andrea Mitchell and use that opportunity to present her directly with the lie he says she told and hold her accountable, live on her own show? Is it true what he says about her? If so, why is he acting like a pouting child and taking his ball to go home?

And even off the show, what keeps DeSantis from calling her out directly by having a press conference about this or going on Fox to do an expose interview there? Nothing about this DeSantis "I want an apology" statement suggests he has Mitchell quivering in her boots. A fair amount suggests it's the other way around. Mitchell isn't avoiding DeSantis. DeSantis is avoiding Mitchell.
