Now if we can just get rid of the other 90+% of cops who are corrupt, brutal, or otherwise criminal.
What do you call 50,000 fired cops? A good start.

You know the problem with bad cops? They make the other 5% look bad.

I actually don't have a problem with most cops.. I guess I've been lucky to know a few good ones, both in my church, extended family. I've known a few bad ones, but in general, mostly good, especially our local sheriffs dept.. most 'country boys', and the chaplain is an ex-teacher of mine... most good guys...Lucky, or maybe just small town cops, dunno. I like to think 'most' honor that uniform, but just like bad truck drivers, the visible few get the attention.

There are some bad ones definitely but you'd have to drop the zero to be closer to the truth.

Please give us hard evidence, not 'feelings', on that 90%+ number. I have not seen any but am willing to entertain the idea if the evidence is real.

There's a BIGGER story here over this Officer and his Threatening FEDEX and his Firing..........

I'm more ticked off over this:

Hartless, who is a member of the police union, is entitled to an appeal process, but officials said they did not know if Hartless would pursue the process.

An internal investigation at the city of Newark Division of Police found Hartless guilty of four separate allegations and violating multiple policies, including the department’s code of ethics and professional standards, McEntyre reported.

This is a pattern of misconduct off the job, but each and every time he does it, we get dragged into it,” Sarver said. “He represents us, and we have a code of ethics, and we have values and rules that we adhere to, and this is not the kind of behavior that we want our employees engaging in.”

Hartless had been disciplined by the Newark Division of Police before. In 2011, he was disciplined for allegedly engaging in an “ill-advised” police pursuit and suspended in 2010 after being charged with disorderly conduct while allegedly disciplining his daughter.

Hartless was also suspended in 2009 for allegedly leaving the scene of a crash where he later admitted he was drunk, 10TV News reported.

But yet he still remained a Police Officer all these Years.

WHY???

Ignorant UNIONS, that's why!!! But, that's a whole other topic of discussion...................................

But wait...Unions are there to help the people..they are the backbone of a democratic society to sure that the employee can stand up to "the man" and get his fair share.....you saying that unions prevent getting rid of a scumbag employee!?!? Say it ain't so...where are all of the normal "union backers" that hang here to disprove your statement that the reason this "poc" cop kept his job...

Peronally, this kind of stuff is just one more reason that gov employees shouldn't be allowed to unionize to begin with...Thank you Mr. John F. Kennedy....

Ignorant People , that's why!!! But, that's a whole other topic of discussion...................................
i fixed for you LOL

The Unions are ran by people . just like you al or the people you al vote into office . etc.. Stop the corruption

i hear personal responsibility and about people using common sense . just like in this case i don't see either one or with most of the comments so far . i see a KKK meeting on both sides .

i see this type of cover up is not aloud but the cover up at Penn state is .

i know most of you wont reach this far because most are to closed minded .
the cop should of been fired along time ago .the union did drop the ball . the union should not defend anybody that breaks any law . weather it be a federal , state law. or the union bylaws .

if this was somebody you knew or a fellow truck driver most would say he shouldn't of been fired . and that is the same thing why this cop got away with so much . he was a friend . or just a fellow cop .

Start making people answer for their own actions .
