What is deadhead pay? is that an accesorial? or is that just paying for empty moves. I saw it mention by LDB in a post a while ago. Also could someone tell me what all the accesorial pays are. Is there a such thing as NEW ENGLAND pay?

Hey Frogger,
Deadhead is the pitance your carrier affords you to aid in the cost of "authorized" relocation to a freight zone, insignificant at best but every little bit helps. Accessorial pay is for the warm and fuzzy touch or when you are required to do somthing other than haul freight..IE Inside pick up or delivery, liftgate, pallet jack, pad wrap, multi stop or pick up to name a few... New england pay and or NY city pay is common as far as I know but I have only worked for 2 carriers and cannot speak for all, it is paid to help offset the higher cost of tolls (and aggravation). Hope this helps

Deadhead and empty move pay are the same but different as the saying goes. Empty move pay is money paid to move from point A to point B on the theory point B is a better spot to be in and has more potential for freight. Deadhead pay is money paid for empty miles dispatched to a pickup beyond a certain distance. It's to help a little when you have to drive a long way from where you are sitting to the pickup point. Depending on the company you run for you usually have to drive either 50 or 100 miles on your own and then deadhead pay kicks in. In the grand scheme of things it's a minimal amount but is better than nothing at all.

Was told once by an O/O, 5 cents would be deducted from the 77 cpm if canada runs were turned down, that meant he would only make 72 cpm. He said he had no control over that, thats panthers rule, is that true?

Deadhead pay and layover pay are negotiable! Try it sometime.

Last I heard was that if when signing on with PII if you said no Canada, your contract was for a lesser amount. D trucks cost of no Canada is $0.10 per mile.

Sounds like a bunch of BS to me. The freight you are carrying (US) should have no correlation to the freight you are not carrying (Canada). If you are willing to forego the revenue the Canadian run would have paid that should be your only penalty. You should not make less on the runs you are willing to take. They need to remember who the owner of the truck is.

Won't make much of a difference after Nov (I think that's the month), when Canada demands governors on all trucks entering the country. Or is it on trucks entering only Ontario?

In my oponion no force means no force. but i think panther is more like no force us and force canada. which is stupid. but they are one of the biggest and i felt from my time there they are a lil cocky, and to proud of themselves. Gotta love someone who wears penny loafers to work everyday.

o/o till i die

what happens if you just tell them your willing to go into canada
but just happen to turn down all the loads they offer you that goes there?

has anyone tried to do that?
Ive been to canada maybe 5 times but when I went independant I didnt choose to do it and dont ever plan on going again.

just another example of a big company screwing the driver out of money.do you think for one second they reduce the rate to the customer on the trucks that dont run canada?NO

just more money to put into fatcats pocket.they should just change there name to p2fu

Governors on trucks going into Canada? I get this mental image of Greg running over to Lansing and hauling what's her name out of the mansion and strapping her to the roof of his van. He would then have a governor on his truck. Take her to Sudbury buddy.
