Layout,

What model/year is your Freightliner and how many miles are currently on it?

With all the problems, you're having(hail damage notwithstanding), I'm wondering if you're perhaps experiencing that point of no return paradox that comes with age and high mileage.

The truck is in good shape for the most part. It is just normal "little things" that I have to contend with.

It is a 2006 M2 M112. It has 551500 or so on it. The engine, tranny etc are good. No REAL problems to speak of. There is a lot of life left in it.

The AMU thing is a known problem and Freightliner is aware and refuses to fix.

The other things are poor shops. They "fix" something and they don't do good work and I have to fix it again. Once should be enough.

I hear you; Those normal "little things" tend to add up pretty quickly, especially when the service chain is compromised by incompetence and bureaucracy.

UPDATE:

The parts have yet to come in. All the prep work is done, they are just waiting on the new parts to install them. Maybe they will arrive today. They were supposed to be in last Saturday. :(

We had the same work done on ours last year. Total bill was $2944. And they put in a used flywheel as ours was too beat up from a spring coming out of the clutch.

UPDATE:

The shop called at 2045 tonight. The clutch work is done and the A/C is fixed. They only have the hub to fix in the morning. SHOULD be done by 1000. With any luck we can go back in service tomorrow afternoon or early Wed. :D

I'm happy to hear there's light at the end of the tunnel for you.

Was this the original clutch?
