Welcome to dacfix.com

Kevin Rutherford on XM had a show last night on DAC reports that was very interesting and scary. This subject has been discussed at different times but the above web site might be worth checking into if you have any questions about your report.

A dac report is kinda like a credit report for drivers. At least that's how I've always thought of it. I don't like the DAC system and I think it should be done away with. I went around and around in circles with dac and a certain expedite company because an owner said I abandonded the truck, and he had to retreive it. First thing is someone doesn't have to have any proof to put something on your dac report, but you have to have proof to get something off. That's is bs imho. It should take proof to put on and take off. I ended up getting the abandonment off, but it took some time.

First you have to send a letter in writing to dac requesting a copy of your report. Until then they won't discuss it with you because they say it is hear say. You need to send the letter delivery confirmation because they have 30 days to get you your report. Then once you have the report in your hands you can call dac and discuss the issue. You have to gather what ever evidence you may have to help your case. I had the owner sign a paper I typed up saying I returned his truck and he took possesion. It was all over. I think he knew it wouldn't stick, but he wanted to give me a hassel.

If you are a fleet or company driver and return a truck you need to receive documentation that you returned the truck. It can come in handy. An abandonment stays on your dac for 10 years and most companies won't hire you with an abandonment on your dac. So leaving a truck somewhere can end your driving career, and if you pull a stunt like that you deserve what you get. If you return a truck in good condition you don't deserve to have some butthole and some big brother expedite company try to keep you from working because you decided not to take the shaft from them any longer. Remember cya!!!! If you don't who will?

I didn't hear the show last night, but listened to the discussion about it on today's show. USIS/DAC needs to be revamped like the credit bureaus have been. As of now, a driver has virtually no recourse when something inaccurate is placed there.
