I called fed/ex and asked them for a local doctors office, to get my physical done, I was told I could go to my own doctor to get the physical. Now thinking about it, I probably was given wrong info. I'm wondering if my doc has to be certified to do D.O.T. physical's

Any doctor can do it, there is no special requirements except being able to read the instructions and be a license MD/DO. I think that even PAs can do them but don't take my word for it.

If your doc knows about FAA physicals, than he/she should have no problems with it.

I had to teach my doctoc what to do and he still charged me full price.

Look up in your Yellow Pages for an Industrial Clinic that treats work related injuries. They do DOT Physicals also the local Doc in a Box Clinic that is on a street corner will usually do a DOT Physical. Expect to pay anywhere from $40-75.

Some doctors (like mine) don`t like the paperwork, and refuse.

I like to use the clinic`s found in a few truck stops. They are not nearly as fussy.

The one I use is at the Flying J.at Lake Station In.I80X15b

I'm glad its over with, my doc did it, it only cost me $10 (copay). It was a lot quicker than I thought. This "fast card" for border crossing, do I have to mail it in with everything else including the $50.00 fee for the application?

Rfrogger: I'm kinda confused - does "it" mean your physical paperwork? The application for the FAST card lists everything they want, & I don't think they give a hoot about your physical - it's your background they're interested in. And your fingerprints, of course. Just fill out everything on the application, don't skip anything, and they'll call or write you to schedule an interview.

Just mail in the application and the money. When you are approved they will set up an interview and you will be fingerprinted at that time.

Make sure whomever does the physical uses the DOT LONG FORM.

Some smaller clinics and family physicians will use the old DOT forms they have stuck back in some filing cabinet or they might use a standard sports physical form. Neither of which works for DOT purposes.
