they've been sold to Transforce..aka TST...

Just asking,,,,,'
Is that last part accurate statement? I thought TST was just a very small part of Transforce. A division of Transforce???
You know have:
TST Solutions ( Canadian side)
TST Expedited Services (US side)
I think???
Rates almost being the same,But I believe the Canadians fare a bit better then the US side when all the penny's are counted.

LOL we no longer produce penny's and I think they will soon go out of circulation in Canada but joking aside Most so called expeditors in Canada are getting paid Penny's for their work.

I'll take pennies for my work. but in the amount I require it does highly diminish the payload of my van.

Actually Im thinking its a nickel more for the Canada side. (But dont qoute me.)
Their are a few more lil perks the Canadian owners get that the US side doesnt. After all no matter where ya go or who you are, ppl tend to take care of their own.

I don't understand why anyone would let someone else take part of their FSC. If anyone remembers the lawsuit that the BTT (Bridge Terminal Transport) owner operators brought against them and they won. I don't remember the exact amount but the operators were re-imbursed more than $10 million dollars in back FSC taken from them. I think OIDA has an article but not sure. It completely changed the way they do business. BTT is owned by the largest shipping company in the world. So It can be challenged.

I remember when US based owner operators for the old TNT Expedite received paid health benefits. That's was decent little perk.

See, here I am confused with the rates. Maybe someone can help me better understand. Please scrutinize the mileage and rate per mile here, its just an example but:

1. If you have a load from x for 500 miles, paying 69% of the ENTIRE load, and they bid it for say $1.00/mi we will say for simplicity, so 69% of $500.00 is $345.00

2. If you have same load that carrier bid for $400.00 plus $100.00 FSC, totaling at $500.00, you 69% of each, that totals to $69.00 FSC and $276 Linehaul, the total pay is again $345.

3. You have a carrier offer just $345.00 flat for the load

4. Or you can have a carrier say, well you get 100% of your fuel surcharge for this load which is $100.00, and then you get $245.00 for your linehaul totaling at $345.00.

Either way, my point is I think some of this talk not just particluarly here, but other places too, there just too much complication in the explanation of the rates and whatnot. I myself like option 1 or 3. A carrier is going to make the profits the want to make on a load, and how they break it down to you is really up to you, but keeping it fairly simple might clarify some things. I personally dont particularly like percentages because of that giving too much control on how cheap a load can be paid. To each his own, by I think that FSC and % is a weird setup. Think about this way, when a plumber comes to your house and fixes a pipe, he charges you labor and materials, but all you care about is total cost. Why would you try to negotiate either one on a percentage or break it down any way at all to confuse the situation? Just tell me what the damage is, and we will negotiate on the total, or the rate per mile/flat rate.
