Could've had a Twix

I wouldn't have minded a Twix or a Milky Way Caramel but what I needed was a TWIC's card. I got a job delivering to a stevedores outfit at the port. Apparently if I had a TWIC card I could have just shown it and driven in as if I was pulling into the driveway. I had to park by the guard shack and wait on the consignee to meet me and follow him back to the dock. I'm not sure if it's worth fooling with getting it for once every 36 months though which is the current ratio of needing it.

I wouldn't bother. A lot of places where you need them won't even bother looking at them. Some places where you realy do need them will let you be escorted. I was with a group picking up containers in a port near Miami. As I was leaving a driver I knew casually was denied entry. I said can I drive his truck in and get his container. They said sure, as long as you have a twic card.

Our friend in a straight truck has the TWIC card. More often than not he is asked what its for and has found it mostly useless

That's been our experience as well. Very few know what it is, and when they do, they still don't accept it because the program still hasn't been fully implemented. Go figure, another expensive ice scraper. LOL

All a TWIC card does is let you in unescorted. I'd rather have the escort, frankly.

I wouldn't show a TWIC card unless I was asked. I think it just creates more confusion when a guard asks for ID & they don't know what it is.

I show ID in this order

Company ID
Personal ID
Other goverment isued ID required for access to certain restricted areas
