Is someone who's driving for a fleet owner an Owner-Operator?

No, as it is the fleet owner who owns the vehicle and not the driver.

Owner/Operator is the individual(s) who has ownership of the vehicle, well at least ownership in name even if the bank technical owns most of the vehicle :) , and also operates it.

However, driving for a fleet owner is a very good way to get started in the business without having to assume the burden of ownership on top of everything else when you are just getting started.

No an owner operator is an individual who owns the truck and also drives it. If you are driving for a fleet owner you are just a driver.

I dunno about the "just" part, but, you are THE driver. If you choose, you can be "just anuther one of them drivers". I encourage you to be better than that tho.

depending if the driver is a private contractor or a company driver, in either case, this driver is not an owner opperator.to be an owner opp, either you own the truck and are leasing to a company,or you are leasing the truck, and then leasing that truck to a company, but if the owner you are dealing with, has leased the truck, you are not concidered the owner opp.

They have no company owned trucks. The fleet owner trucks are contracted to them the same as individual O/O trucks.
