CON WAY NOW IN TEXAS

We ran team with conway for the past year we live in texas and had to DH home all but once and usually had to sit three days in dallas when we started back out, though the loads to and from texas were usually good unless it went to Kansas city from dallas which was every other load.
Some months we never saw texas and then there were times we made five trips to texas in two weeks just luck of the draw. They cant or wont find you a load where you want to go.

the reason we gave up conway was partly the DH issue three times they sent us to bad areas and wanted us to drive out for free, 800 to 1500 miles to the nearest service area. we fought with them each time, then wouldnt get loaded for days after. $.20 a mile isnt much but it helps on fuel, We accepted all but two loads the entire year and had no service failures, was never late yet they still were disrespectful to us each and everytime we called in to dispatch.

They cant keep help in the fleet or in the office.

i Have talked with the few senior drivers they said it has changed for the worse steadly since Ed Conway took charge matter of opinion i quess since i wouldnt know.

Landstar runs strong in texas but i have heard as much good as bad with them. Some say all the compaines are the same If we only knew?

Good Luck

I have seen there trucks on occassion in Laredo and Dallas. I am sure they would go to Houston or El Paso but I have never seen them in either area. I don't really know anything about them past that.

Tri State seem to be very active in Texas,I have seen many of their trucks running to the auto assembly plants in Dallas/Ft Worth and also Oklahoma City. It!s almost a given that no matter what carrier you are with, when you want to go in a certain direction there will be no loads available going that way.:'(

I don't want to send you on a goose chase, but here's some info for what it's worth (probaly not much). I was driving thru TX one night and an expediter truck with no markings passed me by. I greeted the driver on the CB. He said he was a retired school teacher from Michigan running for a company called Rodrigues. He said he loved the job but because this company worked mostly in the southwest he was away from home a lot. I've searched the web and found nothing about this company.

We currently run with ConWay and as mentioned, get in and out of Texas on an irregular basis. Mostly Dallas, and Laredo. We had no say-so in getting loads in/around/specific to Texas . . .it's in & out.

Recently though we had a run in with a shipper that wanted to put 10,900 lbs over and behind our rear drives (FL70 with 96" sleeper).
I tried explaining to the dock guy I would be over. He continued to cite 'his company policy' - he was only going to load it that way!
I refused the load, shut my doors, and drove away.

Now Conway won't back me, and Ed Conaway suggested (he knows how to keep customers) I take the overload, go to a CCX/CSE whatever dock and move it around myself.

What happens if on the way to the transfer I encounter oh, let's say the DOT, or an accident. I drove away with an illegal load on my truck, knowingly and willfully. I wouldn't have a pot to *#^^ in when the courts got done with me.

We've lost all respect for companies that suggest you run illegal. Pretty foolish.

I'd look twice at Conway.
