LOL! IF I had gone over to pick up a date and found her dad cleaning guns I MIGHT have skipped the date and joined in cleaning the guns! :D

Hahahahahaha If a kid did that, I would LET him date my daughter LOL That is at least, if I do have one :"> It may be a boy ...

Did y'all read how he learned this? There is a follow up to the story. Her posts were hidden from family, by choice. But, the dog has it's own FB page, and she forgot to place it on ignore ... while posting some pictures of the dog, the post was seen. He didn't go diggin for it.

My advise to my kids were, "If you're going to call me an ***hole, it better be where I can't hear it".

I think my advise to this girl would have been the same.

Discharging a firearm in a fit of anger will usually result in a home visit from police. Discharging a weapon because you are angry with a child will definitely result in a home visit from Child Protective Services. This guy has gotten off easy up to this point. In another jurisdiction, authorities if so inclined might have made life very difficult for this father. No one is allowed to start firing a gun willy-nilly just to make a point. The fact this was recorded for video speaks
to the warped psychology of a failed parent-child relationship.

Discharging a pistol is deadly serious. It isn't funny or cute. Don't believe it? Fire off a couple rounds in your home or yard and report back what happens.

A 30 round clip, hmm? That's an interesting claim. Please be safe and considerate towards neighbors, passers-by, etc. Guns aren't intended to be used as motivational tools by parents.

The motivational tool wasn't the gun, it was the destruction of the laptop. He could have used a crowbar, baseball bat, burning gasoline, anything. Doesn't matter, as long as the laptop gets destroyed quickly and permanently with prejudice. Makes a more dramatic point that will be better remembered.

Destruction of the laptop was the effect. The gun was the tool or instrument delivering the effect. I don't think we've heard the last of this story as it moves up the legal foodchain. This man's action is the kind of stupidity that leads to further erosion of gunowners' rights. Responsible gunowners probably winced watching this video. This whole saga is so dysfunctional one hardly knows where to start any explanation. Don't be surprised if a local prosecutor, upon further review, decides to revisit this incident. At the very least, this shooter has or will receive a stern warning.

Seen this coming!! I told you that CSB would be paying him a visit...frickin people.....

Quote from another thread, but you seem to be saying the opposite: that people should call the police if unsure of a child's safety, and that you'd call yourself if you saw a child or baby unattended in a truck cab.
Problem is, you can't see who's in the sleeper from outside the truck. When the cops arrive, the driver who was sitting in the back watching tv & the kid up front says "Friggin people!"

Several people [even here] questioned the Dad's methods and his mental state, so it's no surprise that some would wonder if the teenager [who was never seen] was really ok. It's good to know that she is, anyhow.

We all do what we need to do...as for calling the police if you seen this sitituation....if any of us seem a child, let alone a baby in a truck cab unattended, id hope we all would call the police asap...that being said, a child or baby that looks well taken care of and has someone (adult) with them...i might shake my head and walk away..but i don't think id call the police in every situation..but i certainly wouldn't condem anyone that would..as their reaction would be to make sure that everything is alright with the child....

Yeah, if it was my kid talking about me or my wife that way I would have killed her two or three times, THEN grounded her for life plus 20! LOL!!!

OR

As the old Italian guy down the street used to say when he yelled at us kids for making too much noise, shaking his fist as he yelled:

"I Killia you once I killia you no more!"

This was obviously in a rural area and the guy was well away from people and traffic, and the daughter was obviously not around. And yes, I'm aware those rounds have a stated range of a mile or so but he was obviously familiar with firearms and was shooting into the ground. The foul-mouthed brat will probably remember her humiliation on Facebook longer than the loss of a laptop. The only mistake the guy made was not using wadcutters instead of the expensive hollow points. Hopefully he's got the good sense to tell the do-gooders and busybodies to butt out, and keep himself and his daughter off the Dr Phil show.

I can't help but believe there might have been a six-pack of beer just beyond view of the video recorder. This was an incredibly stupid act. The shooter/idiot is tinkering with the prospect of disqualifying himself as a legal gunowner. There is a good reason he has gone silent as a cricket. Keeping a low-profile and a closed mouth will serve him well. Recording yourself doing something stupid with a gun is never good. Lesson to father: don't act stupid with a firearm.

Look at the context of an angry man introducing gunfire into his rant about an unruly teenager. For the most part, American society is not going to tolerate the discharge of a weapon as an acceptable form of expressing anger. We shouldn't be surprised this father has trouble being an effective parent. Resorting to gunplay is an over-the-top response to household difficulties. Bad parenting and really poor judgment.

If this guy wants to portray himself as Yosemite Sam, he's got problems. Irresponsible, start to finish.

I have a t-shirt that reads, "Determination: That feeling you get right before you do something incredibly stupid."

You guys are funny, it is a "who care's" moment for the guy shooting the laptop with the gun and at least he has control enough to think about what he was going to do and not take it out on his daughter physically.

Again a duality of philosophical doctrines, somewhat a illogical thought.

30RD clip? Not likely. 30RD magazine is far more likely.

the difference between the use of the word magazines and clips is just like the use of the word motor[electric] and the word engine[fossil fueled] .

Unless you have a beer riding on the answer it isn't worth correcting someone, unless you have been specifically asked. What do you think when some gives unwanted answers, besides does it really make a difference? it is like asking if a tomatoes is a vegetable or a fruit.

Not with the crowd I hang with. We call a magazine a magazine. To us it makes a difference. Then again, I tend to hang out with 'professional' gun people.

/sigh he hasn't gone silent, he's not in hiding, Drawing assumptions about things you have no proof of or clue about could be part of the prob. Ie when you were talking about the beer. I would be willing to bet she never posts another thing about her family again, if she gets another laprop.
