Company Insurance not covering company driver

Wondering is it common-belief to expect that if you're hired as a company driver that you'd expect to be covered in all aspects of insurance ( vehicle accident , physical property damage , freight damage ) ?

Situation is company vehicle, company-paid gas, just company business all-round...

minor situation to business physical property , being told to pay three grand (3,000)

It probably is, but that's not what matters. What matters is what the law and the actual insurance policy say, and I'd want to know that, just to see if it matches what the company says. Believe it or not, there's times when it doesn't.

First off, welcome to the forums! ALWAYS happy to see new members.

My first question is are you an expediter? If so, are you driving for an owner? What I am getting at is are you sure that you are a 'company' driver? Many newbies in this business believe that they are 'hired' when they start driving for an owner. That may be the case, I don't know, just asking.

Are taxes withheld from your pay?

They probably can't MAKE you pay but you would be out of job. The company's liability may have a deduductible above your 3k accident. Cheri was correct if that is what they indicate. Then ask for a copy of the policy or just the policy number and call their insurance company. If they want you to pay then they should at least provide that courtesy.

yes taxes are withheld.

i think they may not have even filed an insurance claim, but just kept it business-to-business.

what i figure normally occurs is an insurance claim is filed and when it is found the company is at fault the insurance pays that 3 grand and then their(thecompany) monthly/annual payments would increase?

It really doesn't matter they have no grounds to make you pay. If they try taking it out of your check contact the state labor board.
