COmfort Pro Crapped out AGAIN

My Carrier APU is crapped out again. This time it only lasted a month. I think all the refrigerant has leaked out of it AGAIN.

So I'm in Dallas and it not even really hot. Well anyway, I looked under the bunk and the top half of the condenser was frozen solid while the bottom half was almost warm.

I had a similar occurrence three times in the past. I cant take it anymore is there a lemon law for these things or does somebody know how I can go about getting a refund???

There should be a lawsuit or something. The carrier shops I have been to are mostly incompetent, at least one of the mechanics was honest enough to tell me they are just plain junk I can't take it anymore!!!!

I am wondering if the unit uses an orifice tube or a valve?

Well anyway, how is your fan running? Is there any air restrictions? How is the condenser mounted? are the lines secure?

From my days as a A/C Tech I can tell you a Frozen Condenser tells me your not getting enough Air Flow and a Possiable Overcharge of the system, Without seeing the unit I can't really tell you on the fix.

OK just got done at W&B in dallas. This latest challenge was caused by a cracked evaperator coil. The mechnic said this is another common failing in the older units.

W&B also has a guy the who used to work for teleflex(they actually make the units) and he helped me resolve some issues.

They seem pretty knowledgable .

I was able to buy an extended warranty for about 1k bucks. Now the whole thing is covered for 10k hrs or 5 years. So it should be under warranty untill my truck is paid off.

Based on my experience I would highly recommend the extended warranty on these units. As much as I complain about the breakdowns they have all been covered by warranty. So the peace of mind I have now is worth the money.

I feel for ya partner. Been there done that mine was the same MFG different label Pro-Heat. Thing is a Brick without a String and a deep river close by.

Junk Junk JUNK. Mine was I know of people who have had good luck, after mine was rebuilt after 14 trips in for service in 16 months it was not that it was not under Warranty but the price of fuel for the DH and the day out of service plus the aggrivating phone call to make an appointment do talk to Mr. Attitude who could not understand why I could be upset after 10 straight months of having a Wrench turned on it. YES I HAD AN ATTITUDE, after 13 trips in for Service and loosing that income I HAD A RIGHT TO HAVE ONE and so do you.

I wish you well, the comment about overfull is correct and than a crack to boot.

Warning to anyone reading this if it says Pro-Heat it should also have a LEMON painted all over the box that if not rusting will be soon, no primer on anything painted add a little salt and you got RUST.

As for any Consideration from Corporate MIGHT AS WELL BE TALKING TO A WALL.

interesting development on my comfort pro.

if you remember I was happy after getting an extended warranty, well I saw on my credit card statement that the money for the warranty had been reversed.

since chances are they aren't giving me a free warranty, I guess they probly decided not to extend the warranty but nobody has bothered to call me
so wh knows

I went to W&B in Houston, they put on a new belt for me. I decided to have them do it so the pulleys would be aligned right. They charged me $123 for that and they left several parts off. They were left on the inside of the housing. I did not see them, they were found when I took it to the shop I get my work done in Toledo, Scott's Comercial Truck. He called W&B and informed them of thier mistake. W&B did not pay for putting things right or refund my original repair fee. I would love to see a lemon law on these things. Carrier will not do anything for you on these things. Layoutshooter
