Be safe and remember, you can lose your business on these loads. DO NOT TAKE A LOAD THAT FEMA/CDC may TAKE CONTROL OF YOUR TRUCK. These loads are dangerous beyond the norm and may not be worth the risk. Always assume the worst when on these loads.
Can you expound a bit on this ?

Holy Cow ! What an experience ! Good info as well. Still waiting on go/no go ...but no mention if FEMA or CDC. Will be on alert for that. I'm a Desert Storm Vet and can smell a Gov't cluster **** a mile away. Will update load info on the super thread if we get dispatched.

Our truck was almost swarmed by the mob of people at the drop site in Houston after Ike hit...the HPD rapidly escorted us and 4 other trucks out of the area to a high school in Channelview.
Things can get out of hand in a heartbeat and you Must always be aware!
I wonder if there is a mob/victim type "vibe" going on with this storm ? Desperation can make people do bad things to each other.

It was a crazy feeling being told by the HPD not to stop until we do!...the patrol car isn't as wide as our truck and people had to get out of the way and they had to do it fast!....sirens and lights galore..I could only hope no one got hurt!....but to be honest!...it was about to get out of hand and the HPD sensed it.
Surely.
I took a load for Hurricane Gustav. It was a FEMA/CDC load. We went into Baton Rouge, LA. to LSU to set up a 'hospital shelter' for nursing home/hospital evacuees.
We went in FAR too late, 1.5 days prior to the storm and WAY too close to the coast for safety.
FMEA/CDC took control of our, and 16 other trucks, and would not release us to get out of the way of the storm. LSU demanded that we park in a spot right next to some buildings. We ASKED to leave, and were not allowed. We ASKED to park in an open field where nothing could hit us, we were not allowed.
The eye of the storm came within a few miles of our location. The roof blew off of the building we were required to park next to. It damaged all 17 trucks that were there. We lost our cargo box, and 3 months of work. The government and LSU did not take ANY responsibility what so ever. We lost just about every thing we had.
To top it off, many of the people who lived in the area were NOT very nice. They complained about the type and quality of the food served, army food was not good enough for them. One band of 'thugs' attacked an army convoy. Came at them, guns blazing. They only made one mistake. The bunch they attacked was fresh back from Iraq and was used to street mobs firing on them. Those members of the "Coona(ss) Division" "lit up" their attackers with the ".50's" they had on the humvees they were in.
Yep, learned my lesson.
