wires for glow plugs?
Yeah .... don't have to replace them too often .....

and oil changes @ 15,000 miles cost about $90.00 bucks,
Based on the UOA's I've seen on '07's and later, 15K - without a bypass filter - would probably be about the limit, anything over 10K and you are pushing it .... the recommended interval is 10K.

But it takes 13-15,000 to get 10K on the maintaince meter...does for me anywho....

For the 07 and up, the gasser goes 10 k with an oil like the 0w40 Mobil that you use in your 06 and older diesel. The diesel at 7 bucks a quart is still 91 and then you need the filter.

The big savings stopped in 2007 with the new emission rules. You guys with the 5cyl 06 and older, hang on to em!! Better mileage and cheaper!!!!!

Hopefully, the 2010 BlueTec engines solve these issues.

It is a lot cheaper to drop a new engine in then to buy a new one they way they are set-up now....besides 1 more month and this is paid for IN FULL!!

Yes - but I'm not so sure that is the case with the '07's and later.

With the '06's and earlier - based on what I saw on my UOA's even before I put the bypass filter on - I wouldn't have any problem with going with 20K OCI's (using M1 0w40) - the oil still had lots of life left in it, at 15K, or even 17K .....

if you want to spend between 6,500/8,000 bones every 250,000 miles go get a sprinter

ya gotta love a guy(NOT) who posts once in a thread to add controversy. there are two factors for buying my truck...1 it was waaay less than a used sprinter. 2. we had discussions at that time about sprinter repairs and the costs so i went american.

bought this truck at 211k. at 265 the engine was replaced. the trans has been repaired and the fuel pump has been replaced before 290k. i know a couple other drivers for other companies who replaced their american engines before 300k. actually the trans repair is already getting me 1.5 mpg better at all speeds.

it doesn't seem to matter what you buy. at some point it will cost you money. so much for american trucks costing less. am i enjoying driving my "sprinter"? well i would like it more if the mileage broke 22 and i could stand up in it.:D

I think BullRush was referring to the transmission having to be replaced at 250k and the cost was about 6k to 8k or something like that. If I remember correctly "some" of the 02-03 sprinters had transmission problems that required them to be replaced. As a matter of fact I believe I read it here on EO a couple of times back in like 04-05. But I am sure that since 03 they have fixed to problem. But I could be wrong he could be talking about something else. who knows!!!
