Well this may not be the best advice but one thing you can do is go to U Haul or Ryder ,rent the largest straight truck that they will rent to you and play with it for a day or two. Do a lot of backing ,turning, find a closed place with a loading dock and practice backing in etc. If you feel you need assistance try to find someone who already had a B license.Sometimes on a Saturday you may find at a truck stop a decent guy/gal who might be willing to work with you for the afternoon, only payment might be a meal.
Thats what I did back when I had Black hair.:)

I could:nt help but laugh when I read the response from Rich. Not that it was funny, but it brought back memories"When MY Hair Was Black". When my hair was blonde, I sat on not much more than a peach crate and drove an H mkodel mack. The idea of the rental truck will give U some experiencebut if your state is like mine, U have to take your road test in a vehicle similar to the 1 you intend to drive. Class B vehicles have air brakes. So you have to take the test in a Vehicle with air brakes. In the past I have been a trainer and a third party examiner for the state highway dept.My advice is: Go to school--Get your class A--then anyone will hire U if U still want to drive B units

Clark State Community College in Springfield, Ohio offers a truck driver training class. I just finished the "B" class yesterday (2/11/05), and took my CDL test this morning. The class takes 2 weeks and 2 days to complete. If you'd like more information, (phone numbers and contact names), let me know, and I'll get them to you.

Depending where you live in Columbus, Springfield is only 35 mile from the Hillard/Rome Rd exit. Here's the person you need to speak with:

LEE E, did you call Clark State? If so, did they answer your questions about getting into the "B" class? Hope everything works out for you. If you end up going to Clark State, I think you'll enjoy both the classroom and yard instruction. They've got a great bucnh of people there teaching the class.

By the way, I'll be attending the Wednesday/Thursday orientation at Panther II! Can't wait to get started.

Keep me updated on your progress, and if you need any help with anything, let me know.
