Class B Training Help...

I am looking for a little help acquiring my Class B license. I am located in northeast Oklahoma. Searching the web has not provided many options in my area. My state office said the company I work for would provide it, but my recruiter said the state will tell me where I can go to get the training. :-(

Other than Sage or a place in Houston or the New England states I haven't had much luck finding someplace a little closer. Neither Crowder College AR or Central Tech OK provide Class B. Any help/suggestions/recomendations would be appreciated. :)

Hi Phi, get the official handbook for class B from your state. Study it and take the written test. I would recommend getting an airbrake and hazmat endorsement, more written tests. Once you pass your tests, rent an appropriate size truck from Ryder or a local rent/leasing company that has commercial vehicles. Use this to practice and test with.

Good luck.

Moot has it correct. On a weekend get the largest straight truck you feel comfortable with and just drive it around and play with it. Find an industrial park on a weekend that has closed warehouses and factorys and practice backing in, both straight in and at an angle.

If you can rent a flatbed straight truck you will pick up backing and turning quicker as you have better rear visibility then in a box truck.
Good Luck

One thing they forgot to mention. Your gona have to know someone with a Class A or B lisence to get that truck. You must be lisc. to rent any truck with Airbrakes.

Than take it to the DMV you have an appointment with 8 AM the next business day and use this to take your driving test with. Once you have the Class B you are now legal to return it. (you can practice before taking it over to the DMV)

They will not rent to anyone without the appropriate Endorsement on the lisc. = no insurance = no truck rental.

hmmmmm..... When I contacted the license office in Tulsa they said the same thing. Study, take the test, rent a truck, but they neglected to say the part about needing someone with a license to rent it. Thanks for that tip Broompilot. Not their job I guess. They also said that usually the company will provide assistance with getting the license.

I don't know anyone with a Class A or B license. Well, guess I need to ask around.

aaaahhh, ....well; ok then.

Thanks for the replies, Moot, RichM and bamamule. Had this all sorta figured out when I planned to go for Class A, but now that I am considering expediting, having a little difficulty figuring out the license deal.
