Be that as it may, Toyota, I believe employs more Americans than GM does. I don't have the actual statistics handy but I recall watching a segment on CNBC that stated that premise. If I'm not mistaken, they recently built a research & development facility in Ann Arbor.

No, its not even close GM around 68,000, Toyota around 35,000

I'd be curious to know where you're getting these statistics. Perhaps, a link to your source would be helpful.

The problem with that is, it lowers everyone pay and benes from tool shops to small factories.

One thing I've learned in life from living on the streets to being a manager, many professions...the more ya make, the more steak ya eat...in other words...bought more toys, ate out more often, didn';t count my pennies... then when jobs changed I'd have to tighten up and just watch more carefully what and when I bought...you know responsible?

So if they have to give up that cottage on the thumb or that snowmoble..the winter golfing in Myrtle Beach...so be it...that is life and nothing stay the same...

Well, the ones im talking about are the ones that maybe made 16 dollars an hour, they didnt have cottages or that stuff, those jobs are now paying 10 or 12 an hour, but whatever, never met so many who are just about themselves, and I really just need to shut up now

Caring about what happens to other people has nothing to do with a union, understanding what has happened to the pay for workers has nothing to do with a union, you all need to see past he was in a union thing, these are my opinions, not the unions. And yes, your opinion is a very non caring opinion as i see it, but to each there own. I dont like what i see happening to the wages of alot of people in this country, but this attitude of if it isnt happening to me i dont care is just to bad. but serious, quit bringing me back into this, lmaoooooooo

I cant speak for the others who are on the opposite side of the fence as you on this issue. However, contrary to your belief, there are many who don't share your belief because they do care for others. I happen to be one of those people..

You see, In order for my kids' generation to have a shot at a decent living, the economy needs to correct itself of this inflationary pattern it's been on for the last four decades or so. Unfortunately, this correction involves pain as do all corrections. Putting off such a correction only ensures a larger, more painful one later.

Where does it end....higher wages lead to higher price at the stores...then we need even higher wages to live the standard we are at...it is a vicious circle....

Now get back in here.....LOL

It is that same vicious cycle that led to the collapse of Weimar Germany, giving rise to the Third Reich.

Excuse me?? So you pay my bills now? You know that this economy doesn't affect me?? Give me a break...My family has had to adjust just as others have, my wife is in the middle of changing health insurance carriers as this is being typed and she is in training for another job (but thats nothing new, she is a professional student that enjoys the challenge of education and adding to her resume) so yes we those uncaring make adjustments when the economy changes....M3, I bought a new Van, kept the old one and put a returning VET in it so he had full time good paying employment...yes I am making money off his efforts, but I can also tell you that my return is below the industry std because of the deal i made with him..so that he could be the owner of the van in a short time...

When things turn in any economy and wages and benefits get cut, you do what you ave to do, its the way life goes...I have said a few times here that I was raised poor and lived poor...hard work got my parents out of that life, not the union and hard work and overcoming mistakes has gotten me where i am...i don't blame the "man" or greedy businesses or take the gov handouts that people have yelled at me about my paying into and should take advantage of...you want to work and not work for the wage that was cut, do something else....its amazing how many businesses have been started by people that were broke and down to their last dime....at least those that have had their wages cut are still working..."poor poor pitiful them".....

You think?, how many jobs have been sent to china and mexico? did the price of a car come down for those lower wages? no, You think the price of gas is going to come down to 2 a gallon? no, what your missing is, this isnt about bringing down prices, this is about lowing everyones standard of living, the trucking industry is just now starting to be next in line, the wages are dropping fast and expenses are going up, lower wages does not equal lower prices.
