Christmas Shopping

Gott R Done Yesterday. Waiting for a load, still no load so might as well spend some of the time being productive.

The lines are only gonna get longer, with that watch out for the next two weekends unless you enjoy crowds.

Has anyone noticed how some of the stores have absolutly no floor space left. Its so full of merchandise that I had a difficult time finding sizes looking thru the racks. When I did find the size than getting the item off of the pole meant I pulled about five other items out with it. I found it much easier to just go into a more upscale store and was able to at least view the items I was intrested in and spend a little more $ for an item. These stores are really not male friendly at all. The internet is looking better and better everyday to buy stuff from.

Am I the only one who shops like this? I look at the displays they have up and if I like an outfit (clothes) thats what I start hunting for. Thus more displays less cramped isles = SOLD. Shopping I do not hate but its not a complete joy either, I know my bride enjoys what I buy cause maybee I take the time.

Anyway to all of you, I wish everyone on here a Very Merry Christmas.

Boy Kraig you are a brave person to handle those crowds. I do not like crowds and do not like to shop at all in stores so catalogs where always my perfect solution. Now with internet I do all my shopping on line and avoid the hassle. The longer we are in the truck the more I dislike all of the noise of stores and everything that is going on in an enclosed place. We are lucky to be able to ship stuff home and have a daughter there to receive our packages and just store them in our rooms. I do wish once again that a elf would come in and wrap them also!

Merry Christmas!

Another cool thing about this job is Robin and I shop all year round all across the country. This allows us to purchases really unique and cool stuff that most people couldn't find if they were looking for it. Example hand made crafts, Indian items, soap, jellies and many other unique goodies. Merry Christmas everyone!!!

God bless our Military and Vets.

I buy stuff during the year when I see something that appeals to me. When Christmas arrives I wrap the ones I can still remember where I put them. I fill in by online shopping. I hate the stores and the crowds, especially when they add 50% more racks so you can barely walk sideways through the place. I really hate retail at the holidays now. I like the days when I was a kid and my mom and I would go downtown the day after Thanksgiving to see all the Christmas stuff that wasn't there the day before. Merry Christmas to everyone and good luck with your own shopping.

It seems I always end up in the grocery store a day or 2 before a big holiday getting ready to prepare the "Big Meal". This can be every bit as bad as the maul. The worst is when you have 2 groups of people totally bocking the aisle as they have a conversation. You can be standing there obviously wanting to get by and they will look right at you and not move.

I have very mixed feelings about shopping for Christmas. I really hate to shop any time of the year and I really hate crowds. But .... I always go Christmas shopping with my daughter. I get to spend little enough time with her and I enjoy her company. I enjoy our shopping outings every year and more each year as she matures. Now she's a grown woman and turned out to be a great person. It must be her mothers' influence. Sure hope she is luckier than her mom and marries someone who comes home every night.

Tom, I bet your wife thinks she's lucky, too - some husbands can make their wives WISH they'd go away for awhile, you know. How you treat her is more important than how much time you are home, especially when it's your job keeping you away.
What I used to like about Christmas shopping, was the "Twigbee" shops at Higbee's stores: no adults allowed! You sent a child in with a list of people to choose gifts for, and maybe $10 - the "elves" would help them pick the gifts, (a picture frame for Mom, a tie for Dad, frilly hankies for Grandma, etc), and get them all wrapped, too. Your six year old child would come out bursting with pride and wrapped gifts, and it was always my favorite Christmas memory. And I still use the picture frames, too!:)

Cheri,

Enjoy your posts, esp. this one! Was that you...the cute one with brown eyes and ringlets sitting across the "Silver Grill" from me? "Mr. Jing-a-ling" and elves entertaining while we scavenged our box lunches for the small gift in the bottom? Looking forward to meeting you some day and reminiscing of the "good ole times." Ah, Higbee's did it get any better? Keep on posting lady. People like you keep me coming back here for more.

Awww, thanks, Rollo, now I feel all warm & fuzzy - and I haven't even gotten into my jammies with the feet yet, lol. That probably was me, except you left out the freckles, but you could have skipped the reminder of those ##### ringlets - you have no idea how much I hated having my hair wrapped around strips of rags at bedtime - if I could have gotten hold of Shirley Temple around then, I'd have behaved very badly...well, right after Santa came, of course!
T'anks for the memories ;)
