A couple of things, #1 I don't drive a GM product so don't pay special attention to them. A few months ago the St Louis Post Dispatch had a article about Chevrolet \ GMC vans which are manufactured in St Louis. A unannounced recall, but I didn't pay attention to what. #2 when your mechanic drops the pan all that gets changed is the fluid in the pan. The fluid in the lines & cooler is still in there being reused again & again.:rolleyes:

When your mechanic drops the pan, replaces the filter, scrapes and cleans gasket remains, installs a new gasket, has a smoke and a cup of coffee my guess is that 85% to 90% of the transmission fluid has drained.
