We finally got a call at 10:30p.m for a run picking up 212 miles away at 4:00a.m. We were offered $200 empty mile pay, (which we thought was pretty good). The load was going 774 miles and would have gotten us closer to home for Thanksgiving. After drivin all night and arriving early, the shipper had no idea what we were talking about. Turns out they found the cargo, but didn't have the authorization to release it to us. After 2 1/2 hours of sitting at their dock, the load got cancelled. We usually get a flat rate for cancelled loads, plus we were supposed to get detention pay after an hour. When we called the company to find out what our bottom line pay was for the load, they said $200. We asked "what about the cancelled pay?" finally they said it would be about 1/3 our usuall rate. As far as detention pay, we were told we weren't gonna get any because the load was cancelled. By now, we have invested 7 hours of our time and driven over 240 miles. No detention, no cancelled load pay, and are sitting in an area we don't want to be in. What now??? We feel very cheated.
