The new VW plant in Chattanooga, tn is scheduled to open production in early 2011. It is a billion dollar project and looks good so far. It is located off Bonny Oaks Drive and I 75 , easy to find and follow Bonny Oaks Drive to the VW drive sign. Maybe we all will get loads to the plant someday.:D

Why not get off at its own interchange? Since TN was good enough to build one for them...It won't show on a map or GPS since it is new...think it MM 8...Volkswagon Dr...

Been in there .Not sure on the mm8 ramp but there is a new one (and yes I missed it.) I used exit 7 (bonnie oaks drive) Very easy to find..I didnt care for the staging area,Guard points up a dusty road and tells ya where to park and someone will come out and get ya.. Well all I can say is take a sandwich and drinks with ya,because no one is in a hurry to come get ya:(

It's improving, anyhow. I delivered there a couple months ago, and was told to pull over to the side past the security gate, in line behind a few other trucks, to wait for an 'escort' to show me to where the docks would [someday] be. He arrived in about an hour, and after getting unloaded in the middle of the semicircular dirt road in front of the docks, I had to back out in a 180 degree curve, because the t/t blocking the exit was still [after 4 hrs] getting unloaded.
Yes, bring a lunch, book, or some way to pass the time, until they get the place completed - hopefully, it'll be much better then.:(

Y'all can have all of our loads to that location,as a matter of fact you can have all our loads to ALL of the assembly plants, because we don't need the hassle.

I've been hearing that FedEx will be taking over all of their shipments and in the contract it states only FedEx CC trucks are going to be allowed to haul the freight

Just an observation... 180 degrees would not be a curve. It would be a straight line in the opposite direction.

Only TVAL trucks, Greg. It is VERY sensitive freight. :p

It would be an interesting confrontation...a Tval truck with an attitude of being special meeting a receiver at GM with their attitude of highness....it could be real good!!:D

It would be interesting. Not to worry. That plant will only be there until their tax breaks run out. Then they will shut it down and move. Just ask New Stanton PA about that.

I think VW is here to stay. Different attitudes from the 80's.

GM will most likely move into mexico when the tax handouts go away. Pretty sad that we have stooped to a low level by screwing cities who have these plants.

Many cities/states screw themselves. They first set tax rates far too high. That drives everybody out. Then they offer "special rates" to attract new work. Those rates are often too low. When the special rate expires, they leave.

Yea I know, it is like this whooptido theater in Royal Oak, everyone is all joyous, even Paterson got off the golf course to make an appearance there, all told it will provide 40 to 60 jobs most of which are low paying. It seems to be more of a joke when they seem to think that ticket sales will be on the increase in the future, and that theaters will return as an entertainment center.

In the case of the VW plant, it will be a win/win for all involved. Especially seeing as how Tennessee is very business and worker friendly. Some of the lowest corporate taxes in the country and no income tax on workers.

As far as taking forever to get unloaded, take a nap and get paid for it. That's what detention is for.
