CHARDON, Ohio - A gunman opened fire inside a high school's cafeteria at the start of the school day Monday, wounding five students, officials said. A suspect was in custody.
FBI agent Scott Wilson said there was one suspected shooter. He wouldn't discuss the extent of the students' injuries. The Geauga County Sheriff's Office told CBS News that the suspect turned himself in after being chased out of the school by a teacher.
Students quoted by multiple television stations said the shooter is a fellow student. One told a WKYC-TV 3 reporter that the shooter was a student who "had gotten into trouble a lot at school."
WHAT? A 'teenager' doing bad things? We have to feel sorry for the scum that did this.
Yea lets add detectors for something that happens every few years. Stupid people will do stupid things regardless of things like detectors. Someone could shoot people in the parking lot, at a football game etc.
Yeah...it only happens every few years. No big deal, right? Are you that naive? Yes, they could shoot them at a football game, parking lot, etc. The problem is they don't! They walk into school with guns and shoot students in the cafeteria or the library, etc. The bottom line is if they can't get the gun into the school they can't shoot somebody. It's time for drastic measures.

Ahhhh you might google "high school student shot at football game" and also "high school student shot in school parking lot"...you will find hundreds of responces....
Simple fact is that id a person want to shot of kill someone inside a building where there is a metal detector in place, they will find a wayto do it...look at the shooting in court rooms..it happens even with metal detectors in place...i am not saying the metal detectors in some schools are a bad idea, but the blanket approach that and a law that mandates their installation is over the top....
Apples and oranges my azz..you said those shooting don't happen when in fact thaey happen a a # close to those of indoor shooting at schools...do the research...
2nd yes metal detectors work, so do "attack dogs" on gang member..do you purpose we have attack dogs at school doors also ???
As i said, people that are "h8ll bent" on shooting or killing someone are going to find away to do even in the presents of a metal defector at the door.

its those dang guns...they do more damage then anything...guns are the problem.....as far as metal detectors, this happened in the Cleveland area, chances are pretty good they all ready have them in place....
It happened in Chardon, a fairly affluent suburb - seriously doubt they have even considered metal detectors in their schools.
but as Xiggi said, what happens when a gun shoots someone in the parking lot or at a outdoor event on school grounds....blame the ones responsable, the guns, don't add more laws, enforce a few of the too many already in place...
It'll take a long time to reverse the aggressive attitude that's prevalent everywhere you look today, but maybe in the meantime, the media should stop treating this kind of thing as a major world class event, making some teens with a grudge decide to be 'famous' too.
