I've had verizon for about 3 yrs. now, had some problems a couple years back with signal but haven't had a problem for some time now, just a dropped call every now and then when rolling down the road but usually get signal back within 1/4 or 1/2 mile. I think it has something to do with switching towers. Anyways with verizon you need to update your roaming capabilities at least once a month. You do this by dialing *228 and it upgrades automatically. Also if you've had your phone for awhile and have a problem with dropped calls or signal, stop in a verizon store and have them upgrade your phones software for free, this will help alot.

Good Luck

T-hawk's wife here...he's out on a run.

We have Sprint and have been very happy with them. Our plan has me, T-Hawk, his mother, and Critter Truckin all sharing a plan. We talk free to any Sprint phone and have the nights starting at 7pm (which really makes a difference) for $5 (for all phones, not $5 each phone). We also have free roaming within the US also for $5. T-hawks's phone has Canada roaming which isn't free, but brings the cost down to 30 cents a minute from 90 cents (I think). (If someone does have this for free with Sprint, PLEASE let me know!!) Handy not only when he's working, but also when we're there with my family. :)

We also have vision services on 3 of the phones...$10 for my phone (the main number) and $5 for each additional phone. Our bills usually run around $160-210, depending on how many minutes are in Canada. I think that's pretty fair over all for 4 phones.

The only time we've had trouble with the billing is when we change plans or add a phone. Then you have to watch your next bill and make sure you're getting what you're supposed to. It's been fairly painless to get things corrected, although sometimes the person you get doesn't know what they're talking about so you have to ask for their supervisor, or better yet call back and get a different person. :7

Also, I've never had a problem with them turning off any of the phones when the bill reaches $200. Perhaps it's because I've been with them for so long...not sure! You could probably solve that by paying extra so you're always ahead of the game.

HTH!

Hey BP!

We have Sprint and have only had reception trouble in Northern Nevada and sometimes through any of the mountain ranges which is understandable. Sprint will let you add 100 min for $5 to any plan. We also use a Air Card for laptop.

My wife and I both have Nextels and I would certainly be careful if you are signing a new Nextel contract. Alot of Nextel towers have been either removed or "powered down" to accomodate sprint customers and as mentioned in a previous post the "direct connect" wont be available in 2006 supposedly.

Nextel service is comprised mainly of small business customers and their service since the sprint merger has gone down hill in a hand basket.

If you are wondering about the validity of the info my wife is an Ad rep with various wireless companies...so...I like my nextel but am in a bind with signing a new contract..if services arent going to be available or cut off...nothing is ever easy
