cell phone numbers going public?

anyone know about this?

FYI...

REMEMBER: Cell Phone Numbers Go Public next month.

REMINDER.... All cell phone numbers are being released to telemarketing companies and you will start to receive sales calls.

.......... YOU WILL BE CHARGED FOR THESE CALLS
Even if the message is saved on your phone, you will be charged for the minutes to listen to it.

To prevent this, call the following number from your cell phone:
888-382-1222 .
It is the National DO NOT CALL list. It will only take a minute of your time. It blocks your number for five (5) years.
You must call from the cell phone number you want to have blocked. You cannot call from a different phone number.

HELP OTHERS BY PASSING THIS ON TO ALL friends.. It takes about 20 seconds.

This e-mail is like 6 years old. Cell phones didn't go public then, and they're not about to go public now.

Uhm, no. All cell phone numbers were not, and are not, being released to telemarketers. (exception is Canada, where anyone, including telemarketers, can purchase the Do Not Call List from the Canadian government, then ignore the law and call you anyway. Yay, Canada!)

Well, minutes, anyway.

I think they mean "saved to your voicemal", not to your phone. Whoever wrote this was all kinds of on the ball.

At least they got the phone number right. :)

It is the National DO NOT CALL list. It will only take a minute of your time. It blocks your number for five (5) years.
Telephone numbers placed on the National Do Not Call Registry will remain on it permanently due to the Do-Not-Call Improvement Act of 2007, which became law in February 2008. Read more about it at <Do Not Call Registrations Permanent>

You must call from the cell phone number you want to have blocked. You cannot call from a different phone number.
That much is true. But, you can also register online and enter up to three phone numbers. http://www.donotcall.gov/

Yeah, 20 seconds to SPAM thousands with incorrect information.

From the Federal Trade Commission Web Site:
"You may have received an email telling you that your cell phone is about to be assaulted by telemarketing calls as a result of a new cell phone number database; however, that is not the case. Federal Communications Commission regulations prohibit telemarketers from using automated dialers to call cell phone numbers."
